Perhaps because of his humble birth, his childhood was lost, and he grew up in a foster home, Ding Guoxian always maintained his simple nature, even if he was a famous character in the old era, his income was not cheap, and he never forgot about it for a moment. After the founding of New China, it took the initiative to demand a substantial salary cut, donate money for the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, go to the Korean battlefield and the Fujian front to offer condolences and performances, and pay high party fees.

Ding Guoxian joined the Communist Party of China earlier. In 1959, the 13th issue of "Drama Newspaper" reported on the title of "Zhou Xinfang, Yu Zhenfei, Ding Guoxian, etc. Joining the Party," which said: "Before 'July 1' this year, the Communist Party of China organized and approved a number of opera artists to join the party, including Zhou Xinfang, president of the Shanghai Peking Opera Theater and a famous Peking Opera actor, Yu Zhenfei, principal of the Shanghai Opera School and a famous Kunqu opera actor, as well as famous Jin opera actors Ding Guoxian and Niu Guiying, Peking opera actors Tong Zhiling and Sun Shengwu, Yue opera actors Fu Quanxiang and Xu Yulan, and Tin opera actor Shen Peihua , as well as commentator Tang Gengliang and so on. ”

Ding Guoxian has a broad mind and is good at absorbing the strengths of all families. During her performance in Beijing, she visited the Chinese painting master Qi Baishi, asked the old man Baishi for painting skills, and also discussed the performing arts with Peking Opera masters Mei Lanfang and Cheng Yanqiu. She also invited Shang Xiaoyun, a master of Peking Opera, and Zhou Qi, a master of Sichuan opera, to Taiyuan to pass on the scriptures and send treasures.

I worked in north China, in the early fifties. At that time, Ding Guoxian was the main actor of the Taiyuan Jin Opera Troupe and had a great reputation. When I went to Taiyuan, I always had the opportunity to contact Ding Guoxian, although there was no direct contact at work. She gave me the impression of being simple, cheerful, and enthusiastic, without the shelf of a famous actor at all, a little bit of arrogance, and a bit of "earthy" atmosphere. Her dress is very simple, if you walk on the street, people who don't know her will not be able to see that she is an actress.

Bai Guiying, who is both a disciple and a "granddaughter", said in an article remembering Ding Guoxian: "Grandma is selfless to the party and the grand duke of the country, leaving no room for it. For themselves, they are hard and simple, strict requirements, never engage in special, and there is no shelf of big stars. She is vegetarian. Three meals a day, each meal only eats two small plates of vegetables, two pieces of dried tofu. Buy a cucumber, eat only half a cucumber at a time, soak the rest in an urn, and eat it next time. When she performs in other places, she always goes to the stove with everyone, sleeps on the bunk, sits in the big car, and never makes a special. She is always pleasant and approachable to people, young and old, rich or poor. Especially for me and the young disciples, the conversation is always long and short, very kind. ”

Ding Guoxian's treatment of seniors, peers and students can be described as well-known.

In the era of Ding Guoxian, Jin opera xiang had the four top cards of "Ding Niu Guo Ji". "Niu" is Niu Guiying, "Guo" is Guo Fengying, and "Ji" is Ji Meilian, all three of whom are actors who have long cooperated with Ding Guoxian in other professions. The "Ding Niu Guo Ji" of Jin Opera, like the "Li Yuan Ye Du" (referring to Li Shaochun, Yuan Shihai, Ye Shenglan, Du Jinfang) of the Beijing Opera House and the "Ma Tan Zhang Qiu" (referring to Ma Lianliang, Tan Fuying, Zhang Junqiu, and Qiu Shengrong) of the Beijing Peking Opera, are all examples of perfect cooperation. Niu Guiying once said: "I have cooperated with Ding Guoxian on the theatrical stage for more than 20 years. The two of us were not only partners on the theatrical stage, but also established a strong friendship in the long-term stage career of sharing weal and woe. Although we seem to be the same generation in terms of title, in fact, regardless of age and art, she is indeed my teacher and predecessor. ”

Ding Guoxian had been married twice, the first time to Marry Ji Wuzhai, who gave birth to a son, but did not survive. After Ji Wuzhai died, he married Ren Xiufeng and never had children again. She treats Ren Xiufeng's son as if she were her own, and treats her apprentices and students like her own flesh and blood.

Ding Guoxian has twice held public acceptance ceremonies, both reported by Shanxi Daily.

The first time was on August 26, 1961, when Ma Yulou, Liu Hanyin, Wen Mingyun, Liu Keqin, Liu Baojun, Bai Guiying, Zhang Mingqin, Li Suqin, Guo Zhenqi, Li Shouyi, Yan Huizhen, and Wu Zhong were collected, a total of 12 people. In addition to the relevant people from Shanxi Province, Guo Lanying, a famous singer from Jin opera actors, also attended the event. Shanxi Daily wrote in the headline: Today's peach and plum blossoms are gorgeous, and the fruits in the coming year are different red.

The second time was in January 1963, and he was apprenticed with several other performing artists Niu Guiying, Guo Fengying, Ji Meilian, Liu Zhilan and Tian Jiuyun. Among them, under the name of Ding Guoxian are Jing Yuxi and Yu Larong of the Hebei Jingxing Jin Opera Troupe, Dong Xiuzhen of the Taiyuan Jin Opera Troupe and Pang Cuixian of the Jinyang Troupe, a total of 4 people.

Ding Guoxian's disciples and students Bai Guiying, Liu Baojun, Ma Yulou, Liu Hanyin, Zhang Mingqin, Wen Mingyi, Yan Huizhen, Wu Zhong, Cui Xiyuan and others have written many articles, fondly recalling the teacher's dedicated cultivation and meticulous love for them.

Ma Zhaolu's care for the teacher is truly remembered. He recalled that during the New Year's Festival, Principal Ding took the orphaned students home to play for a few days, personally cooked food for the children, and demonstrated and pointed out the movements in his spare time. These children can't help but show off when they return to school, which makes those classmates who come home from vacation envious.
