The tournament was hosted by the Xiamen Municipal Sports Bureau and the Xiamen Football Association, and the registration was launched in Xiamen from the 11th, and in just over a week, it has attracted more than 50 teams from inside and outside the island to register for the competition.
The event is divided into six divisions from the six administrative districts of Xiamen, which are divided into youth groups (18-44 years old) and evergreen groups (45-60 years old), which compete for the first and second places respectively. During the period from October to December this year, the venues of each district will be linked, and the first stage will be held in the first stage of the district group qualifiers, and the top two groups in the second stage will be competed in the final stage, and all the places will be determined. The teams that won the top three in the youth group and the evergreen group can not only win the "Ma John Cup" trophy and individual medal awarded by the organizers of the division, but also receive the equivalent prizes of 10,000 yuan for the first place, 8,000 yuan for the second place and 6,000 yuan for the third place.
During the competition, the organizers will also hold supporting activities for the Football Carnival at the Ma John Stadium on Gulangyu Island, and combine the online and offline Asian Cup city emblem punch card activities to further enhance the fun of the event and truly achieve the participation of the whole people.
According to reports, as one of the birthplaces of modern football in China, Xiamen has a football tradition that has lasted for more than 100 years. The 2023 AFC China Asian Cup will be held from 16 June to 16 July 2023 in 10 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou.
