According to the China News Agency, Li Lina, deputy director of the Xiamen Municipal Sports Bureau, said on the 21st that as the 600-day countdown to the 2023 AFC China Asian Cup is approaching, the 2021 Ma John Cup Futsal Tournament, as an important supporting activity of the city's "I want to participate in the Asian Cup", was launched simultaneously in the six districts of Xiamen from October to December.
Li Lina said that as of now, the event sponsored by the Xiamen Municipal Sports Bureau and the Xiamen Football Association has attracted more than 50 teams from Xiamen to register for the competition.
As one of the birthplaces of modern football in China, Xiamen has a football tradition that lasts for more than 100 years and is one of the host cities of the 2023 AFC China Asian Cup. The tournament will be held from 16 June to 16 July 2023 in 10 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou.
It is understood that the event is divided into six divisions by the six administrative districts of Xiamen, which are divided into youth groups (18-44 years old) and evergreen groups (45-60 years old), and compete for the first and second runners-up respectively.
During the competition, the organizers will also hold supporting activities for the Football Carnival at the Ma John Stadium on Gulangyu Island, and combine the online and offline Asian Cup city emblem punch card activities to further enhance the fun of the event and truly achieve the participation of the whole people.
