On 15 August, the Taiwan Straits Herald reporter Zeng Yushan correspondent Zhang Wanyan learned from the Xiamen Garden Expo Garden that the Xiamen Trier Sister City Park, located on the west side of the main exhibition island of the Garden Expo Garden, was recently completed and officially opened to the public, adding another good story to the international friendship cities of Xiamen City and Trier City in Germany.

It is reported that Trier and Xiamen City officially concluded the sister city relationship on November 11, 2010, and Trier City has also become the fifteenth international sister city of Xiamen City, and over the years the two sides have carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, art, education, sports and tourism. In 2017, the two cities worked together to build a Xiamen Park in Trier, and in 2020, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the sister city between Trier and Xiamen, the Xiamen Trier Sister City Park began construction.

According to reports, in order to reflect the valley topography of Trier, a slightly sunken area was designed in the exhibition park, which contrasted with the boundary of red sandstone and black slate above the ground, ensuring the openness of the south side to the lake and a large grassland landscape. The bottom of the sandstone wall is designed with a narrow extension of the "water belt", and the slate wall symbolizing the vineyard wall has several wooden pillars, and vines are planted next to the wooden pillars, intending to restore the scenery of grapes growing on the slopes of the Trier Valley.

The most striking is the "chessboard" in the garden, which is a representation of the city according to the Roman ordinate coordinates, bounded by steel belts, covered with light and dark grit, and made of gray and white granite to represent historical, modern and lifestyle figures and symbols - Karl Marx (born in Trier), the Great Black Gate (a monument of the Roman Empire, a landmark in the city of Trier), grapes (a famous property of Trier), crosses, books, mugs, footballs, windmills, costumes, etc. A small area on the "board" is planted with ground cover plants, and visitors can walk through it, as if entering a board game, which is very interesting. Opposite the "checkerboard" is also designed with a "screen" made of smooth glass, showing a panoramic projection of the city from the Maria Column on Mount Petris (where Trier's "Xiamen Park" is located).
