Yang Kaihui's greatest fear happened later, because the Red Army led by Chairman Mao had briefly occupied Changsha for a day, and then chose to withdraw after taking into account the overall situation of the revolution.

The enemy who had lost his conscience felt that Yang Kaihui was just a weak woman, so he tortured her, and Yang Kaihui was tortured by the enemy's cruel torture and fainted many times, but did not say any information that the enemy wanted.
In the end, the enemy threw Yang Kaihui, who was tortured to death, back to prison, and the three brothers of Mao Anying saw that their mother Yang Kaihui was beaten to the ground and cried bitterly, and Mao Anying and his mother said:
"When I grow up, I must avenge my mother."

The Kuomintang reactionaries, under the pressure of public opinion, had to rethink how to deal with Yang Kaihui; Chiang Kai-shek, after weighing the pros and cons, sent a telegram to He Jian asking him to deal with her leniently; after receiving Chiang Kai-shek's telegram, He Jian felt that since the above had said so, he replied that as long as Yang Kaihui could announce his disassociation from Chairman Mao, he could release her.

After the group of agents had lunch, some soldiers found that Yang Kaihui was not dead, so they went to report to their superiors, and the reactionaries knew that Yang Kaihui was not dead, so they asked a soldier named Yao Chuzhong to mend their guns, and Yao Chuzhong saw Yang Kaihui, who was lying on the ground with a weak breath, and shot her directly in the head.
In this way, Yang Kaihui, an outstanding female revolutionary of a generation, sacrificed. After Yang Kaihui's death, the three brothers of Mao Anying were released from prison under the mediation of their uncle Yang Kaizhi and other relatives, and they were later sent to Shanghai by their uncle Mao Zemin, Where Mao Anyong was lost, and Mao Anying and Mao Anying later went to the Soviet Union to study.
When Yang Kaihui was killed, Chairman Mao did not know at first, until a month later, Chairman Mao learned from the captured enemy newspaper that his beloved wife Yang Kaihui had been brutally killed by the enemy.

Later, Chairman Mao learned that his two sons, Mao Anying, and his younger brother had been admitted to college, and while his heart was happy, he also wrote a letter to tell Mao Anqing not to be too tired, because he knew that Mao Anying had a brain injury when he was a child. Chairman Mao wrote down what became known as "Butterfly Loves Flowers and Answers To Li Shuyi", in which Chairman Mao wrote about his thoughts about Yang Kaihui and the infinite pain he felt at her unfortunate sacrifice.
