Liu Lanfang's voice was a unique memory belonging to two generations. Her commentary has been broadcast on more than 100 radio stations across the country, attracting people to wait. In the spring and autumn of the past sixty years, she has experienced the art of storytelling from glory to decline, but she has always changed her original intention and traveled all over the motherland for the development and dissemination of the art of storytelling.

"This is the first time I've come to Shiyan, but in fact I wanted to come very early. Speaking of commentaries for decades, I have been hearing about the city of Shiyan. After coming here, I feel that the location of Shiyan is great, and the people are also very rustic. Liu Lanfang said that Shiyan and her have long been related, because she is a northeasterner, and Shiyan's Second Automobile (now Dongfeng Company) has a lot of northeasterners, come here, listen to many people speak Mandarin with "northeast atmosphere", let her be very kind, Shiyan seems to be her second hometown.

Liu Lanfang said that Shiyan's geographical location is very superior, reaching the Qinling Mountains in the north, the South Iba Mountains, the Han River and the Wudang Mountains traverse the whole territory, "Shiyan naturally integrates the cultures of all sides of the country. I feel very deeply when I come to Shiyan this time, because I have seen many local cultural programs and can feel the love of the people of the city for cultural life. ”

She took Shiyan cultural scholars as apprentices

During the interview, the reporter learned that Liu Lanfang had a mentor-apprentice relationship with Niu Xiaowen, a scholar of Shiyan culture, many years ago. "When I learned that Elder Liu had come to Yunyang District this time, I came to visit him." Niu Xiaowen said that he loves to recite and comment on books on weekdays, and in November 1981, the Hubei Provincial Qu Artists Association and the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture jointly held the first "Hundred Flowers Book Club", he represented the Yunyang region to participate in the competition, for "The Legend of Wudang Mountain" long book review won the first prize, Liu Lanfang as a guest on the spot commented "Yue Fei Chuan". After listening to his commentary, Liu Lanfang took the initiative to find him in the background and guided him. "At that time, Teacher Liu Lanfang guided me for nearly 3 hours, and put forward ideas for the techniques and sounds of my storytelling performance, and the whole process was very pleasant." Niu Xiaowen said that since then, the two have been in contact from time to time.

In November 1996, when Niu Xiaowen attended the re-election conference of the China Qu Artists Association in Beijing, he met Liu Lanfang for the second time, and Liu Lanfang wrote a message for his daughter, "I wish Niu Jia a good study, every day upwards". This time in Shiyan was the third time the two had met. At the scene of the event in Yunyang District, after Liu Lanfang's performance was completed, the master and apprentice reunited again. "When I saw the message card that Xiaowen brought, I immediately remembered what happened back then." Liu Lanfang said.

After the two reminisced, Liu Lanfang asked Niu Xiaowen for an address, saying that she would send him a set of latest commentaries when he returned home. "The first two meetings each time I received a collection of commentaries from Elder Liu, the first time was "Yue Fei's Biography" and the second time was "Hu Jia General". On October 31, 2019, he was awarded the "70 Outstanding Performing Artists in 70 Years". On December 29, 2019, he was elected as the "Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Person of the Year" in 2019.

On September 25, 2020, he won the title of "Lifetime Achievement Quyi Artist of China Federation of Literature and Art" at the 11th China Quyi Peony Award.
