Foreword to "Hope: Contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition"

As the main title of "Contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition", "Wang" means to widen the distance, like climbing high and looking into the distance, from a distance, from a higher and more macroscopic perspective to observe the overall appearance of Chinese painting and visual art - and then through the macro situation, from the surface to the inside, to present the current development of Chinese visual art language and the relationship with Eastern and Western cultures; At the same time, "looking" also means looking back at the same great Eastern and Western artistic traditions through time and space, because China's modern and modern art is not only nurtured by traditional Chinese art, but also absorbs the tradition of Western art, and the purpose of looking back on tradition is to better give a future perspective, and in the confrontation and communication with others, it is more conducive to deeply understanding oneself and finding the direction of progress.

Therefore, "Wang: Contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition" systematically sorts out the paintings, installations and other works of art of current Chinese artists, and comes to Rome, the important city of the Renaissance, and presents it to the Italian public at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, which is of great significance: this is not only to let contemporary Chinese art travel through time and space to pay tribute to the great generation of masters of the Renaissance; Moreover, it is to carry out exchanges and dialogues with Italian contemporary art, so that the Italian people can feel the charm of Chinese art and deeply observe the development of contemporary Chinese art.

Through visual art, this exhibition will build an opportunity for the dialogue between East and West and a bridge for cultural exchanges, and will surely leave a profound imprint on the history of art and cultural exchanges between China and Italy.

Tracing the Silk Road Cultural Context Drawing a long river in the heart

——Xiaoji Liu Lanfang's recent paintings

Excerpt from "Chinese Art"

In the early 90s, Liu Lanfang lived in the United States, and since then, after 25 years, she has devoted herself to studying, traveling to art institutions and art museums with rich collections in the United States and around the world, and exploring the cultural spread of the ancient Silk Road in Europe and Asia - inspecting the trade distribution centers at the end of the ancient Silk Road from Dunhuang and Guizi to Rome, studying the origin of cave painting art in the East and the West, opening her eyes, improving her artistic literacy, and gaining a deeper understanding and experience of the inheritance and innovation of painting art.

Recently, I have been fortunate to see several large-scale new works created by Liu Lanfang over the years, which is refreshing. It can be seen from this that her profound accumulation and profound understanding of art for more than 20 years after going abroad can be said to be reborn, completely breaking free from the early figurative style and the aesthetic taste nest of domestic art academies and artists associations, and transforming into a brand new self, which has both the lightness and agility of the early years and the maturity and profundity of today's maturity. As a friend who understands his early painting style, I feel deeply shocked before the new works.

Among these works, the one that moved me the most was the masterpiece "Sound", which is completely in line with her early talent and sensitivity to the art form, and injected with the accumulation of years of exploration and thinking, and the mastery that bursts out with ease: majestic and heavy, ethereal and light. The clumps and lines composed of colors in the whole picture collide with each other intentionally or unintentionally, contrasting with each other, forming a color layer and visual tension, which seems to reveal a certain sound, like the noise of the market on the Silk Road in ancient times, and like the camel bells and chanters on the Gobi Desert during the commercial journey, both familiar and unfamiliar, and have been echoing and flowing in the heart for a long time.

"Silk Road Seal" is also a 4.5-meter masterpiece, countless combinations of color blocks of different shapes, light and beautiful, cut and controlled by an acute angle thick color block extending from the right side of the picture, this unexpected bold composition, forming a strong visual contrast, like a visual symphony, gorgeous music interspersed with heavy and deep rhythm, seems to symbolize the long Silk Road night, war, suffering, not only can not stop and dissolve the beautiful dream of human cultural integration, It also heralds a new magnificent world formed after the fusion of cultures in Eurasia.

《2020 · "Spring Kiss" is Liu Lanfang's use of green, rich and pleasing green tones, frank and heroic and passionate brushstrokes when the global epidemic is extremely serious, and the deep understanding, call and desire for life in the heart are strongly injected into the work, and the beautiful melody of spring vitality and revival of all things, giving people new life, new hope and new energy is vividly portrayed, which is pleasant, uplifting, and even more exciting.
