On May 12, the "Future Curator" project of the 2024 China Brand Day "Me and My Brand" was officially launched at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. As one of the three pilot schools in Shanghai, Loushan Middle School has carried out the interdisciplinary project-based learning of "Insects in the Museum" to connect the classroom and build a "world of insects" under the exploration of young curators.

How can the study of the 8th grade Chinese compulsory reading list "Insects" be extended? In the interdisciplinary project-based course "Insects in the Museum" in Loushan Middle School, students read "Insects" in the school, and explored and perceived insects based on the school's habitat garden. Outside the school, they came to the Shanghai Museum of Natural History to immerse themselves in insect knowledge, and learned curatorial knowledge under the guidance of professors from Donghua University.

The students were task-driven around the big problem of "completing the one-square-meter museum curation of the theme of "Insects", and under the leadership of the teachers of each subject, they dismantled the big problems into small problems, "tackled them one by one", and established a "insect universe" for Loushan students. Writing a paragraph of "My Favorite Insects", insect-themed tabloids, insect nature notes, soundtrack recitation of "Insects", drawing AI insect pictures...... In the small tasks that include Chinese, mathematics, English, music, life sciences, information technology, art and other disciplines, students are exposed to the knowledge and skills of multiple disciplines, so as to cultivate interdisciplinary and comprehensive ability.

"The watermelon insect turned out to be not an insect, but the bug turned out to be a particularly laughing insect, which is amazing!" "It's not easy to make insect atlas notes that are both rigorous and beautiful" "I like to draw AI insect pictures the most, and the insects I make are very 'cute'. The project-based learning, which lasted for nearly a year, lit up the full "skill points" of Loushan students and allowed them to enter a more vivid insect world.

"At present, what we urgently need to solve in our classroom is to transform 'knowledge-based' teaching into 'core literacy-based' teaching, and transform the 'lecture-centered' classroom into a 'learning-centered' classroom. The key to this shift is to develop students' problem-solving, social and emotional skills, critical thinking, and creativity. Wang Rong, a Chinese teacher at Loushan Middle School and an instructor of the Insect Chronicle Project, introduced that the school's interdisciplinary project-based course of "Insects in the Museum & Future Curators" was born based on this background.

It is understood that the "Future Curator" project is jointly initiated by Donghao Lansheng Convention and Exhibition Group, Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Business Exhibition Co., Ltd., News Newspaper, and the Art and Technology Practice Working Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Cultural Affairs. Through curatorial methods and cross-border innovation in different spaces and fields, the event guides students to understand Chinese brands and Chinese culture through group activities, stimulate each other's creativity, take the initiative to learn, and transform their own ideas into fruitful works.
