Synopsis
This is a great drama of saving desire, Mr. Mo Yan uses the complex redemption process of human nature to profoundly reveal the complexity of human nature in sinking, and the crossing to the light in redemption!
"Crocodile" is a magical full-length drama created by Mo Yan for more than ten years. "Crocodile" is divided into four acts and nine scenes, and the plot revolves around the protagonist Shan Wuyi and the congratulatory gift "crocodile" he receives at his birthday party. On his 55th birthday in 2005, Lao Hei, a businessman in the ornamental fish business, gave him a 30-centimeter-long crocodile as a birthday gift. Knowing that the growth of crocodiles depends on the degree of environmental restrictions, he became interested in crocodiles. In the past ten years, all kinds of people around Wuwu have appeared: his ex-wife Qiaoling wants to compete with her lover Skinny Ma for the ownership of the villa where Wuwu lives; The "nephew" Niu Bu and the performance art performer Lampshade squeezed the "art materials" from Wu Yi and persuaded Wu Wu to join them; The old subordinates came to persuade him, and the seemingly emotional words implied the meaning of "the task is in the body...... Ambivalence grows stronger and stronger, and he becomes closer to the crocodile, feeling that only the crocodile can understand his heart. He kept changing the crocodile with a bigger tank, allowing it to grow until it became a four-meter-long behemoth.
Through an infinitely growing, talking crocodile, the story excavates the secrets of the depths of human nature and deeply explores the theme of "desire". In the process of observing, researching, and talking to the crocodile, the protagonist sees himself in the crocodile. Once inconspicuous little creatures grow into terrifying monsters with enough space and nourishment, just as human desires continue to swell under the unrestricted environment and connivance, eventually devouring the once pure soul.

Combining Shakespearean dialogues, imaginative theatrical conflict design, and unique "Mo Yan-style magic", "Crocodile" vividly portrays a series of typical characters, which not only reflects Mo Yan's in-depth thinking and innovation in literature, but also has profound social reality significance and educational warning effect.

Mo Yan felt after watching it
Hello everyone, I'm Mo Yan.
Recently, my drama "Crocodile" is going to be performed in Shanghai, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Yantai, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou and other places.
There will be Zhao Wenxuan, Zhang Kaili, Deng Cuiwen, Mo Hong, Bai Kainan, Li Zonglei, Wang Jinghua, Li Longyin, Fu Xing, Lin Zihao, Bai Wenxian and other actors will bring wonderful performances.
I just watched the premiere in Suzhou two days ago, and today I would like to share with you my impressions.
The inspiration for "Crocodile" comes from what I saw and thought when I was a reporter at the "Procuratorate Daily" in my early years, when I interviewed prosecutors and corrupt elements, and accumulated a lot of material, especially some material for corrupt officials who fled overseas.
"Crocodile" tells the story of a corrupt official called Shan Wuxian.
Shan Wuyi was originally a very good official, born as a child of workers and peasants, and was promoted to important leadership positions step by step through his own hard work. He was full of enthusiasm for serving the people, but he also hated all kinds of irrational social phenomena, strictly managed his subordinates, and even beat up those contract foremen who cut corners. However, because he made a mistake that leading cadres often make, he slipped step by step to the other side of his life and became a corrupt element that everyone hated.

I watched the premiere in Suzhou two days ago, and I was very excited, and the actors' performances even exceeded my imagination. The three-hour viewing process felt familiar and unfamiliar, and each actor had a deep personal understanding of their role, which made people feel immersive, making this story that happened on the stage a story that seemed to happen around us.
And this kind of interpretation, I think, is the closest to the style of the original "Crocodile", because the world on the stage is also based on reality and is based on realistic literature. This is the story of a corrupt official, and it is the story of everyone. These characters present the commonalities of human nature, including human strengths and weaknesses. So you can see on this stage that there is no one who is absolutely bad enough to be good, but everyone also has obvious flaws that cannot be recognized.

I think a good drama is a mirror of life,
Let each of us see ourselves in front of the mirror, our own nobility, our own purity, and some similar weaknesses to some of the characters in the play.
Such an observation, such an appreciation, is not only an appreciation of art, but also a kind of care for one's own life.
