In fact, no matter from which point of view, Zhiji L6 can be regarded as a blockbuster pure electric sedan this year, today we will break away from the debate, let's talk about this budget of 23 to 330,000 medium and large electric sedan, how is it.
What kind of car is the Zhiji L6?
Zhiji currently has three cars, in addition to the LS6 and LS7 SUVs, there is also the L7, a mid-to-large-sized sedan, which is the first car of Zhiji. It stands to reason that the Zhiji L6 should cut into the mid-size car class, but in fact, like the L7, it is still a C-class medium and large car.
Although it belongs to the same level, the Zhiji L6 is actually still a lap smaller than the L7, in addition to the same width, the wheelbase and length of the L6 are much shorter than the L7. This is because in medium and large cars, the L7 is relatively large and can be regarded as the C+ class, while the L6 is a standard C-class car, and compared with other electric vehicles of the same level, it is even a bit smaller.
Xiaomi SU7, ZEEKR 001, AVATR 12 and other models, the wheelbase is more than 3 meters, and the body is close to 5 meters, Zhiji L6 is basically the smallest one in the C-class, only slightly larger than the positioning of the medium-sized car ZEEKR 007.
In fact, this is a misplaced competition that Zhiji deliberately does, such as the LS6, which is positioned as a medium and large SUV, and the price threshold is set at more than 200,000 yuan, which is only a little higher than the Xpeng G6, which is positioned as a medium-sized SUV. Now the pre-sale price of L6 is only 230,000, and the actual price is likely to be the same as that of Xiaomi SU7. The threshold for medium and large vehicles such as ZEEKR 001, Zhijie S7, and AVATR 12 is generally more than 250,000 yuan.
In other words, the Zhiji L6 may become the first direct competitor of the same level and with a high degree of overlap in pricing with the Xiaomi SU7. And both cars focus on sport and handling, and even without the turmoil of the previous two days, it is difficult for them to avoid being put together for PK.
The basic positioning is clear, the previous sales of Zhiji's L7 were not ideal, so what are the characteristics of Zhiji L6, and is it more worth buying?
What are the highlights of the L6?
At the pre-sale conference, Zhiji can be said to be comparing the Xiaomi SU7 with the L6 throughout the whole process, as if it was built with SU7 in mind. The research and development of a new model takes at least 2 to 3 years, and it is impossible for Zhiji to know the specifications of SU7 3 years ago, but both brands regard performance as the core highlight, and coincidentally release it in the same period, which produced this wave of fierce collision.
Let's put aside the comparison with Xiaomi, and put it in the more macro market, what are the highlights of Zhiji L6.
1. The price threshold is low enough, and it is expected to be in the early 200,000s
Although the pure electric C-class sedan within 200,000 yuan already has models such as Han EV and Galaxy E8, the C-class pure electric sedan that emphasizes handling and adopts high-specification double wishbone front overhang, except for Xiaomi SU7, the starting price is mostly more than 250,000 yuan. Including ZEEKR 001, AVATR 12, and the newly facelifted Zhijie S7.
The pre-sale price currently announced by Zhiji is 230,000 yuan, and the final guide price will obviously be lowered, and it is possible that it will be the same as Xiaomi's 215,900 or even lower. In addition to Xiaomi, a sporty C-class sedan has appeared at the price of 200,000.
2. Standard rear-wheel steering, which greatly improves flexibility
The function of rear-wheel steering, there may not be many friends who have experienced it, but if you really drive a model with rear-wheel steering, it will be easy to feel the improvement of handling flexibility, which is very meaningful for large cars commuting in urban environments.
Officially, the turning radius of the Zhiji L6 is 4.99 meters, which is close to the Volkswagen Polo, while the turning radius of the general medium and large sedans is 5.5 meters, or even close to 6 meters. If it is a U-turn, the turning diameter of the Zhiji L6 is more than half a lane less than that of the same class model.
This improvement is actually obvious, can greatly reduce the pressure of driving a big car in the city, before the model with rear-wheel steering at least more than 300,000, now Zhiji L6 to achieve standard, may also stimulate more 200,000 price models, began to be equipped with rear-wheel steering.
3. The performance parameters of the four-wheel drive version are outstanding
In terms of power parameters, the maximum power of the rear-wheel drive version of Zhiji L6 is 294 horsepower, Xiaomi SU7 is 299 horsepower, and Zeekrypton 001 is 422 horsepower, so L6 is not outstanding in this regard.
However, the four-wheel drive version of L6 is completely aimed at Xiaomi SU7, the front and rear motors are made of silicon carbide permanent magnet synchronous motors, with 787 horsepower power parameters, the official 0-100km/h score is 2.74 seconds, which exceeds the four-wheel drive Max version of SU7, it is difficult not to speculate that Zhiji is specially tuned for PK Xiaomi.
However, in terms of maximum speed, the pre-sale of the 299,900 L6 four-wheel drive super performance version, the data found by Autohome is 239km/h, which is lower than the 265km/h of the SU7 four-wheel drive Max at the same price. However, at the press conference, the top speed data marked is 268km/h, so what is the official figure, it will be confirmed after the launch.
Whether the top speed is 239 or 265km/h, it is much higher than the mainstream models in the same class, proving that the Zhiji L6 has also put a lot of effort into mechanical performance. In addition to the Tesla Model 3, it has brought a new choice to consumers who like to control fun.
4. The sporty appearance and space practicality can be taken into account
As mentioned above, Zhiji's first sedan, L7, is one lap larger than L6, but the performance of L7 rear space and comfort is very average. Similar to the common problems of pure electric sedans such as high platform, low seat cushion, steep backrest, and narrow head, almost none of them fall, and these problems also generally appear on the sports-oriented Xiaomi SU7.
And come to the second sedan L6, obviously in the space layout is much better, the rear seat space is not particularly spacious, and the problem of low seat cushion still exists, but the seat cushion of Zhiji L6 has an upturned design, which increases the support for the legs. At the same time, the angle of the backrest can also be adjusted in multiple stages, coupled with the soft seat filling, people with tall stature can basically find a more natural and stretched state in the back row.
In addition, among the many fastback style electric sedans, the Zhiji L6 has become one of the few models that uses a liftback door, which is needless to say, with more vertical space in the normal state, and can be connected to the cockpit after the seat is folded, and many large items that the sedan can't fit can also be installed.
However, it should also be pointed out that although the trunk storage has advantages, there is no front trunk at all in front of the Zhiji L6.
5. 133kWh semi-solid-state battery loading
The marketing of solid-state batteries by car companies began very early, but the concept of "solid-state batteries" itself is divided and controversial. At present, the solid-state batteries claimed by NIO and Zhiji can only be regarded as semi-solid, but there are differences between the two in terms of electrolyte density, and the specifications of Zhiji L6 are closer to all-solid-state.
The technical level will not be delved into, mainly depending on the effect, the "solid-state battery" version of Zhiji L6, the battery capacity is 133kWh, and the working condition range calibration is 1000 kilometers, that is, the pre-sale version of 330,000. Aside from the technical level, this means that when the Zhiji L6 is officially launched, the price of 300,000 will be able to achieve a range of 1,000 kilometers, and the highest price is still within 900 kilometers.
This also shows that the PK of car companies on battery life is also fierce, Zhiji L6 may become the first model with a range of 1,000 kilometers at the 300,000 level, but it will never be the last, and more models and versions with ultra-long battery life may also come soon.
These are the main features of the Zhiji L6, in addition, it also has a half-width steering wheel, full-frame ultra-long display and other functions. However, everyone has mixed reviews about these configurations, so I won't go into detail about them separately. If you don't like a half-spoke steering wheel, the Zhiji L6 also has a traditional round steering wheel option, so don't worry.
So how competitive is such a car in today's electric sedan market, and is it likely to become a hit?
Can Zhiji L6 succeed?
In terms of popularity, SAIC's Zhiji is definitely not comparable to the hot Xiaomi, and it is far from a new force like Wei Xiaoli.
However, after the launch of the LS6 last year, Zhiji's sales have increased significantly, and the number of LS6 models exceeded 8,000 units in December last year. There were also more than 4,000 units in January this year, and the overall price was basically the same as that of the Xpeng G6, which was similarly priced. In the category of 200,000 yuan pure electric SUV, the sales of Zhiji LS6 have been ranked in the forefront.
Behind this achievement, the main thing is the comprehensive competitiveness of size, battery life, configuration and price. Branding aside, Zhiji's pricing strategy is even more aggressive than Xiaomi's, and if the L6 can offer a more competitive price, then its sales prospects are also worth looking forward to.
In addition, at the technical level, Zhiji seems to be inferior to the first echelon in terms of intelligent driving, car and machine, etc., but similar to lidar, high-specification chips, high-voltage platforms and other configurations, they are basically equipped with kingpin configuration, and there are almost no shortcomings in product power.
The L6 car has added the leapfrog advantage of rear-wheel steering, equipped with a liftback tailgate, and also has special functions such as Carlog taking pictures with the car, and also has its own outstanding features in the design of the shape and interior.
What's more, when it comes to the LS6 and L6 cars, Zhiji, a brand born late, has become significantly more mature in the control of advantages and disadvantages, highlighting the advantages of the premise, but also taking into account space, comfort and practicality more comprehensively, compared with the original L7 and LS7, the progress of the car-making concept is very obvious.
For ordinary consumers, Zhiji does provide another cost-effective choice in addition to brands such as Zeekr and Xiaomi. Although limited by brand influence, Zhiji's new L6 may not be able to become a blockbuster product, but it should have its place in the mid-to-high-end new energy market.
