◆75% ethanol (alcohol): It has an obvious effect on bacteria, but it is not sensitive to fungal effects and has a certain irritation to the skin. In addition, alcohol is volatile, has a short duration of action, and has a mediocre disinfection effect.
◆ Iodophor: It mainly has a strong killing effect on bacteria, fungi, spores, molds and some viruses. Compared with ethanol and iodine wine, iodophor is less irritating to the skin. It is used to disinfect the umbilical wound of newborns, and the effect is reliable, fast and safe.
◆Povidone-iodine: It has a strong killing effect on bacteria, fungi and some viruses. Less than 75% ethanol irritating to the skin.
Finally, remember to check the umbilical cord frequently for bleeding, if there is bleeding, you need to re-tie to stop the bleeding, if there is no bleeding, gently wipe the umbilical cord every day and wait for it to fall off naturally.

"Disinfection method"
♦ First of all, make sure that the temperature is kept at 26°C~28°C, and wash your hands;
♦ Fully expose the umbilicus, take a cotton swab dipped in the venom, gently lift the umbilical cord with the left hand, hold the cotton swab with the right hand, disinfect the root of the umbilical cord first, that is, the position of the umbilical fossa, go around clockwise, and then disinfect the umbilical cord. If there is a lot of secretion, remember to replace the cotton swab, and repeat the disinfection according to this step;
♦ Draw circles around the umbilicus from the inside to the outside to disinfect the periumbilical skin by 3 cm;
♦ Change a sterilized cotton swab and disinfect the umbilical cord stump from left to right;
♦ Before the umbilical cord stump is about to fall, you will find that the root is a little slimy, and there may even be bleeding, which is normal, don't be nervous, just use a few cotton swabs to disinfect;
♦ After the umbilical care is completed, the diaper should be folded under the umbilical cord to expose the umbilical cord to air, which is conducive to keeping the umbilical cord dry and avoiding umbilical cord infection.

1. Be careful not to pull the dry umbilical cord that has not fallen off to avoid bleeding. If the umbilical cord is not completely detached, it can easily cause chronic inflammation and granulation tissue hyperplasia, called umbilical polyps or umbilical granulations. If the umbilical polyp granulation persists for two to three weeks, please seek medical attention as soon as possible.
2. If the baby's navel has obvious redness and hardness, pus outflow, odor or the umbilical cord has not fallen off and healed for more than 3~4 weeks, you must take the baby to the doctor in time.
