The sixth batch of samples for space science experiments on China's space station were delivered to scientists

At 1:45 a.m. on May 1, 2024, the samples of life science experiments that returned smoothly with the Shenzhou-17 spacecraft were transferred to the Space Application Engineering and Technology Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. The Space Application Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the overall unit of the space application system of the manned space project, inspects and confirms the basic status of the returned life experiment samples, and then delivers them to scientists on site.

At 17:46 on April 30, the sixth batch of space science experiment samples of China's space station returned with the Shenzhou-17 spacecraft. The scientific experiment samples involved 23 scientific experiment items, including 32 kinds of life experiment samples such as human osteoblasts, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, protein crystals, living organic molecules, seeds, and 18 kinds of material samples such as containerless materials, high-temperature materials and extravehicular exposed materials, with a total weight of about 31.5 kg.

Subsequently, scientists will perform transcriptome sequencing, proteomics detection and other biological analyses on the returned life cell samples, and provide new clues for the prevention and intervention of related diseases through the study of cell biological mechanisms in microgravity environment.

Scientists will test and analyze the micromorphology, chemical composition and distribution differences of ground and space samples, study the influence of gravity on material growth, composition segregation and solidification defects, provide support for the preparation of important new materials, and are expected to make breakthroughs in the research of lunar soil reinforcement materials and in-situ resource utilization of lunar soil.
