Polypropylene (PP) fabric has the characteristics of lightweight, wear-resistant, easy to clean, and elongation at break and chemical resistance are better than general chemical fiber fabrics.
However, the melting point of polypropylene fiber is low, and the high-temperature processing of post-finishing processing is easy to cause the fiber to be thermally oxidized and cracked, and at the same time, the hygroscopicity of polypropylene fabric is poor, and in the dipping process, the working liquid of the fabric waterproof and oil-repellent agent is difficult to penetrate into the fabric quickly and uniformly, so the waterproof finishing process of the polypropylene fabric needs to be specially customized and tested in advance.
According to the characteristics and technical requirements of the fabric, the Texnology® technical team selected Texnology®8102A PP fabric and Texnology®NW-21 penetrant to customize the low-temperature waterproof finishing process for the polypropylene fabric samples provided by Dongguan customers.

Texnology®NW-21 penetrant can effectively improve the wettability of polypropylene fabric specimens, so that Texnology®8102A PP fabric working fluid can fully penetrate the processed fabric and improve the waterproof finishing efficiency.
The No. 2 process formula uses less additives, only 2% Texnology®8102A and 0.1% Texnology®NW-21 can give the polypropylene fabric sample a waterproof level 4 effect, and the processed fabric does not appear yellowing and strength decline at a customized processing temperature of 140°C, which meets the customer's dual requirements for cost control and fabric performance. After the verification of the pilot production, the customer has now adopted the low-temperature waterproof process formula for mass production.
