Due to the large number of pig farms on both sides of the river, the rain and sewage are mixed, resulting in serious pollution here, and it is even described by the locals as a "lifeless river". However, with the construction of beautiful rivers and lakes in Mianyang City and the promotion of the "waterfront" co-governance system, Furong Creek has ushered in a new life and transformation.
In recent days, on the bank of Furong Creek, the staff of the Mianyang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment are sampling and testing the water quality, and at the same time, using drone aerial photography, satellite remote sensing, field investigation and other means to investigate, monitor and trace the source of the sewage outlets along the river.
Wei Dong, staff of Mianyang Youxian Ecological Environment Bureau: Up to now, about 360 "outlets" have been investigated and registered in Youxian District, and the remediation rate of outlets is 100%. Through comprehensive investigation and remediation of sewage outlets into the river, the discharge of pollutants is effectively controlled to ensure the continuous improvement of the ecological environment quality of the river basin.
Source control and pollution interception is the foundation, and the "waterfront" is the key. There are currently 9 sewage treatment stations along Furong Creek to ensure full coverage of township sewage treatment. At the same time, the local government has also effectively purified the water quality of the river through the construction of ecological wetlands and ecological buffer zones. Nowadays, strolling along Furong Creek, the 26-kilometer rural tourism loop and the 41-kilometer composite experience waterfront greenway have become the first choice for more people to get close to the water and ride.

At the Xiejiahe Water Reclamation Plant in Dongxing District, the staff used the smart operation and control platform to monitor the operation status of more than 90 sewage treatment plants, and closely tracked water quality changes through data analysis to ensure that domestic sewage was reborn and recycled.
Song Chenxin, deputy manager of the engineering technology department of Sichuan Shuihui Ecological Environment Management Co., Ltd.: The average daily treatment of urban domestic sewage is nearly 10,000 cubic meters, and the treated water quality meets the relevant national and provincial standards. It is mainly used for ecological water replenishment of Xiejiahe River, watering water for greening of Xiejiahe Park and sponge park, and maintenance of garden and green space.
At present, the Xiejiahe Water Reclamation Plant has produced a total of more than 700 million cubic meters of reclaimed water, with a utilization rate of 100%, continuously injecting new vitality into the rivers in the jurisdiction. With the development of various "water control" work, the water environment quality of Neijiang has also been continuously improved, and the excellent water quality rate of 12 national and provincial control and assessment sections has reached 100% of the standard for two consecutive years, and the water environment quality has reached the best level in the past 20 years.
