At present, there are two main types of under-display fingerprint recognition technology: optical fingerprint recognition and ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, among which the ultrasonic fingerprint recognition solution has Qualcomm's patented technology, which Huawei cannot use.

Optical fingerprint recognition is achieved by using the refraction and reflection of light, after the finger is placed on the unlocked area, a highlight will appear in the area, illuminate the fingerprint area, and return the reflected light to the sensor under the optical fingerprint module through the gap in the screen.

Ultrasonic fingerprint recognition is the use of fingerprint "crest" and "yu", when the finger presses the screen, the sensor under the screen emits ultrasonic waves to the finger pressing area, and then according to the different degrees of absorption, penetration and reflection, it generates echoes of different energies and is sensored, so as to construct a 3D fingerprint image, and then realize unlocking.

Compared with the two, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology has more advantages, its recognition speed is fast, the accuracy is high, the penetration is strong, the interference ability is strong, the security is higher, and it is not afraid of water stains and stains, so it is the main recognition scheme used by the current mainstream flagship models.

So will Huawei be restricted? Of course not.

As we mentioned in the previous video, Huawei has actually been prepared for a long time, and has applied for patents for ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology in 2020 and 2023 respectively.

So, why didn't the previous Mate60, Nova12, Pocket2 and the just-launched Pura70 use ultrasonic fingerprint recognition?

A patented technology, from research and development to practical application, must require a process, not overnight. Moreover, this fingerprint recognition technology is bound to be quite difficult and needs to be continuously improved in order to achieve commercial application.

In this regard, a well-known digital blogger has also broken the news that M70 is testing the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is estimated to be Mate70. However, in this regard, some people said that the Mate 70 may not be used, and next year's Pura80 and Mate are not a big problem.

But in any case, Huawei has developed its own ultrasonic fingerprint technology, according to the convention, as long as Huawei makes a move, it can basically reach the top level in its field, and I believe it will be used soon. In addition, after the mass production and application of this technology, is it possible to supply it to other domestic manufacturers, or even all manufacturers? Because once it is mass-produced in China, the cost of many components can fall rapidly, and lidar is the best example.

Of course, it's still that logic, I've talked about it too many times, there are similar technologically advanced products in this market, breaking the original technological monopoly, so even if you don't use it, when you purchase parts, it may be cheaper and you will benefit.

In short, Huawei's current models do not use ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, not because they don't want to use it, but because of the sanctions imposed by the United States. Moreover, the short-focus fingerprint recognition technology used is not bad in practical application, and I use it every day, so there is no problem at all. What is the purpose of such an operation? Just as the so-called right path in the world is the vicissitudes of life, you can dislike Huawei or not support Huawei, there is no problem, but don't do it deliberately for any benefit. This is a matter of principle, and if you don't do it, you will be backfired, remember.
