British auction house Henry Aldridge & Son recently successfully auctioned a gold watch from the richest passenger on the Titanic for 1.17 million pounds, or about 2.23 million Australian dollars. The buyer is from the United States. This pocket watch engraved with the initials "JJA" once belonged to American business magnate John Jacob Astor, who was only 47 years old when the Titanic sank and was once considered one of the richest people in the world at the time.
