Ah Niu

(Chen Chiping's short story)

When I was a child, I hated my parents for calling me "Ah Niu", an indecent nickname. At that time, I had a hard time, so I had to ask my parents tactfully: Everyone else is called "Xiaolong" and "Xiaohu". Then why do you have to call me "ox"? When I think of the cow head and horse noodles in the temple, my heart really doesn't feel good! My parents replied bluntly, "You were too naughty when you were a child. That's why the teachers in the dormitory of the new business jointly nicknamed you "Ah Niu".

My parents and elders didn't know that I had this shadow in my heart when I was a child, and they all shouted "Ah Niu" in public places. For example, when I shouted at the gate, "Ah Niu, bring my younger brothers and sisters home for dinner!" When I was an adolescent, when I heard it, I wanted to dig a hole, get into it, and hide.

It wasn't until I was reading Takenaka that one day I finally mustered up the courage to express my heart to my parents, who were very surprised but didn't say a word. From then on, they only called me "Pingping" or "Boss", and never called me "Ah Niu". Even if my father sometimes forgot and called me by my name, my mother would quickly hint to him with her eyes that he must not. Later, when I went to college, only the older elders didn't know about it, and they still called me "Ah Niu" and "Ah Niu". But my parents must not have called me that anymore.

As I got older, the more I longed for my parents to call me "Ah Niu" again. But I couldn't say it anymore, so I asked them to call me "Ah Niu" again. Later, when I was with my older elders such as aunts, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, and grandmothers, I heard them call me "Ah Niu", and I felt like I was back in the world again.

My parents have been dead for years. If someone calls me "Ah Niu" again, I'm very happy, it must be an elder who watched me grow up or a playmate from my childhood.

When I grew up, I learned that cattle are animals that are highly respected by farmers, cattle are a symbol of hard work and simplicity, cattle are hard-working creatures, and cattle are good friends of human beings. When I was a child, I really didn't understand my parents' intentions, and when I grew up, I regretted my youthful frivolity very much.

Now that I'm old and have to entertain myself, I drew a few paintings to show me as a child. I incarnated as a child, hoping that my parents would hug me again, I incarnated as a cow, hoping that my parents would call me "a cow" again, but the past is like smoke, and the time is not with me.
