Since serving as an arbitrator in 2008, Wang Weijun has participated in more than 1,000 arbitration cases, including the first case in China to be awarded under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, the earlier case in which the ICC Court of Arbitration Rules were applied, the international engineering contracting case under FIDIC clauses, and a number of cases involving the application of foreign laws and international conventions.

Combined with his rich practice in the field of foreign-related arbitration, Wang Weijun actively participated in the research of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government on the development of Shanghai as an Asia-Pacific arbitration center and a preferred place for international dispute resolution. These include the research project of the Municipal Law Society "Research on the Path of Building an International Arbitration Center in Shanghai", the special project of the Municipal Government's decision-making consultation research in Pudong "Research on the Multiple Resolution Mechanism of Commercial Disputes in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone", and the research project of the Municipal Committee of the Municipal Party Committee for Comprehensive Rule of Law "Research on the Shortcomings and Countermeasures of the Foreign-related Commercial Dispute Resolution Mechanism in Shanghai".

At the same time, Wang Weijun has written a number of articles on arbitration practice and published them to showcase the advanced practices and development of Shanghai's arbitration industry to domestic and foreign legal circles. Wang Weijun focused on the mainland's foreign economic and trade and legal diplomacy strategy, and planned from a high position, implemented with high standards, and promoted various tasks with high efficiency. Among them, focusing on the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, the "first move" effect of the international aviation arbitration platform has become increasingly apparent. In 2014, as the leader of the Shanghai International Aviation Arbitration Commission project team, he undertook the investigation and demonstration work of the International Air Transport Association and the China Aviation Association, and established the world's first aviation dispute resolution and arbitration platform - Shanghai International Aviation Arbitration Court. On this basis, in November 2023, Shanghai International Arbitration Commission undertook the key project of the high-quality development implementation plan of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Civil Aviation Administration of China during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and established the "Air Silk Road" Investment and Trade Dispute Resolution Center, which has become a national-level "Belt and Road" dispute resolution project in Shanghai.

Wang Weijun also participated in the whole process of Shanghai CAC's docking with African arbitration institutions, and promoted the establishment of the Shanghai CAC in 2015 to establish the China-Africa Joint Arbitration Center and establish the "China-Africa Joint Arbitration Mechanism". The mechanism is included in the FOCAC-Beijing Action Plan (2019-2021) and the FOCAC-Dakar Action Plan (2022-2024).

In addition, along with the pace of Chinese enterprises "going global", Wang Weijun led the team to visit and investigate enterprises to understand the legal service needs of overseas enterprises, and accelerate the establishment of the Shanghai International Arbitration (Hong Kong) Center with the responsibility of professional institutions to go out first, so as to provide a solid legal guarantee for Chinese enterprises to go global with arbitration legal services based on China's national conditions and in line with international rules, and continue to contribute to the "Shanghai Plan" and "Shanghai voice" in the field of international arbitration.

Relying on his rich practice in the field of foreign-related arbitration, Wang Weijun has vigorously promoted the innovation and improvement of the arbitration system and enhanced the international influence of Chinese arbitration. On the one hand, in light of the current development of international arbitration and the latest trend in the revision of China's Arbitration Law, he led the Shanghai CAC to study and revise the Shanghai CICA Arbitration Rules, formulated two special rules for aviation and data, and two guidelines for online arbitration and ad hoc arbitration services, forming an advanced arbitration rules system. On the other hand, he led the Shanghai International Arbitration Commission to study international dispute resolution rules, actively participated in the formulation of international legal rules, and strengthened the voice of international rule formulation in the field of arbitration. At present, Shanghai Guozhong has been approved as an observer unit of the working group of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and as the first Chinese arbitration institution to be approved as an observer unit of the working group of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, it has signed a cooperation agreement with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.
