The eyes are the windows to the soul, the first sense through which we discover beauty. Preventing myopia in children and protecting children's eyesight is a major concern of parents, schools and society. On the afternoon of April 24, 2024, our school invited Sun Yongfang, director of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology of Yuncheng Liming Eye Hospital, to bring a special activity of "Home-School Companion Guarding the Light - Myopia Prevention Science" to all parents. The lecture was conducted in a combination of online and offline mode.
Before the lecture began, Director Sun Yongfang introduced the theme and significance of the event.
In the lecture, Director Sun first introduced what is eyeball, children's refraction and vision, vision screening, causes of myopia, how to prevent and treat it, and common sense of eye protection.
Then, Director Sun gave a detailed explanation on the formation and harm of myopia, the impact of eye habits on myopia, and the misunderstandings of parents' perception of myopia, which attracted the attention of parents and improved their cognitive understanding.
Parents listened attentively and recorded carefully, which not only enriched the knowledge of how to help children love and protect their eyes, but also enhanced the important awareness that myopia prevention and control should start from an early age.
Finally, Director Sun also introduced the basic knowledge of eye protection, such as increasing outdoor activity time, developing good eye hygiene habits, and balanced nutrition.
Director Sun had an on-site interactive exchange with parents on children's eye health issues, and the parents actively asked questions, and in Director Sun's patient Q&A, everyone had a deeper understanding of eye care, eye protection and scientific eye use methods.
Caring for every child's eye health is the unshirkable responsibility of schools, families and society.
