Don't buy it, you have to return it when you buy it.
When I bought a gas water heater, the salesperson said this to me. At this time, I learned that the installation requirements of gas water heaters are almost the highest among all household appliances.
Later, I inquired with the salesperson, and there are 14 common gas water heater installation requirements - it is best to confirm it yourself before buying, otherwise the water heater will be asked to return it when you buy it home, and you are completely asking for trouble.
For the sake of ease of reading, I have divided the 14 points that need to be checked by yourself into 5 categories and listed them below.
.01 Installation room
(1) Ventilation: The room where the gas water heater is installed must be "well ventilated", and to put it bluntly, there must be windows. And the windows must be able to open, and some users seal the kitchen windows, which will make it impossible to install.
(2) Interior door: The room where the gas water heater is installed must have a door, which cannot be open. Some people like to have an open kitchen – one in which you can't even turn on natural gas, let alone a gas water heater.
(3) Non-residential: The room where the gas water heater is installed must be a non-residential room, to put it bluntly, it can only be a bathroom and kitchen. However, since there is no natural gas pipeline in the bathroom, it is more troublesome to install - you need to find the natural gas company to which you belong and let them provide gas pipeline renovation services.
"Should I install the water heater first and then renovate the gas pipe?"
No, gas water heaters can only be installed in rooms with gas pipes, and "temporarily not" can only be installed after they are available.
.02 Installation spacing
(1) Distance between doors and windows: The horizontal distance between the gas water heater and the doors and windows should not be less than 30cm.
(2) The distance between the gas pipe: the distance between the gas water heater (including the smoke exhaust pipe) and the gas pipe shall not be less than 30cm. The photo below is of my friend's house, and the distance between his water heater and the gas pipe is too small. The installer asked him to return the goods, and he found someone to install it himself. As a result, the gas company cut off the natural gas for him, and it is currently being rectified
(3) Gas stove distance: The salesperson told me that some users want to install the water heater above the integrated stove. This is not allowed because there can be no open flame under the gas water heater, and the horizontal distance from the gas stove cannot be less than 1m.
"Can I put a shelf in the middle of the room for a water heater?"
The gas water heater must be fixed to the wall, that is, the back must be against the wall.
.03 Embedding Environment
(1) Embedding area: Theoretically, gas water heaters cannot be embedded. However, as long as the panel (display), buttons, and pipe interfaces of the water heater are exposed, it can be installed normally.
(2) Embedding requirements: A part of the gas water heater can be embedded in the cabinet, but this cabinet has requirements -
• No more sundries can be placed in the cabinet;
• Vents should be reserved on the cabinet.
"Can I install a gas water heater first and then make a cabinet?"
No, because there is no way to install a gas stove without installing cabinets, and if you don't install a gas stove, you can't pass the natural gas acceptance.
.04 Number of pipes
(1) Inlet and outlet pipes: Needless to say, there must be reserved hot and cold water pipes under the gas water heater. It can also be connected to the hot and cold water pipe under the sink with an open pipe, but this will cause a large increase in the time of putting cold water before using water, and the experience is very poor.
(2) Return pipe: If you want the experience of zero cold water and want to buy a zero cold water gas water heater or circulating pump, you need to lay a return pipe during decoration - the return pipe and the hot and cold water pipe can be discharged side by side.
(3) Condensate pipe: Most gas water heaters only have secondary energy efficiency, and if you want primary energy efficiency, you need to purchase a condensing gas water heater. This type of water heater is highly efficient, but it needs to drain condensate (like an air conditioner). The condensate will flow indoors, so it is recommended to reserve a drain in advance and place it side by side with the angle valves of the hot and cold water pipes.
"Can I install an electric water heater on the reserved pipe of a gas water heater?"
But in this way, the electric water heater loses the advantage of "transportation distance", and it also needs to keep hot water for a long time before using water.
.05 Pipeline Direction
(1) Exhaust location: The exhaust temperature of the gas water heater is very high, so it cannot be discharged into the public flue, which will cause danger. You can only make holes in the exterior wall, so you need to have at least one exterior wall in the installation room that can be punched.
(2) Length: The horizontal distance between the gas water heater and the smoke exhaust outlet (the eye on the outer wall) should not exceed 2m, so as to ensure that the length of the smoke pipe does not exceed 3m. If the smoke pipe is too long, it will affect the smoke exhaust effect and lead to carbon monoxide leakage.
(3) Number of right-angle bends: The best installation method is to let the smoke pipe pass through the ceiling, so that it can be laid diagonally and the distance is the shortest. If it is placed under the ceiling, right-angle bends should be used for aesthetic reasons, but the number of right-angle bends cannot exceed 3.
"Do smoke pipes need to be charged like air conditioning pipes?"
The smoke pipe that comes with it is generally 2m, which means that you need to add a maximum of 1m pipe, and the charge will not exceed 100 yuan.
