Instantaneous electric water heaters were born in 1988.
When I saw this news, I was stunned: it turned out that instantaneous electric water heaters have gone through more than 30 years. It stands to reason that 30 years is enough for a product to mature, why is the sales of instantaneous electric water heaters still so low?
I didn't believe in evil, I went to the e-commerce platform and looked at the bad reviews - and suddenly understood.
.01 High installation requirements
Instantaneous electric water heaters, as the name suggests, heat water to a specified temperature in an instant. If you want the water temperature to rise instantaneously, the heating speed of the water heater is very demanding. For electric water heaters:
power, which determines the heating speed.
Therefore, the power of an instantaneous electric water heater is very large, more than the power of all the appliances you can imagine. At least 4000W starts, and the power of most products is above 6000W, with a maximum of nearly 9000W.
What is this concept?
For home decoration, a maximum of 4 square millimeters of copper wire is generally used, and the safe current carrying capacity does not exceed 26A. 4000W home appliances can barely be used (it has to be a special line), and 6000W don't even think about it.
Not only the wires, if you want to use an instantaneous electric water heater with more than 6000W, you need to replace the air switch and electricity meter. Such a big project directly dissuaded many users.

But how did it become like this when it came to instantaneous electric water heaters?
Not only this one brand, but I have looked at many products from multiple brands in a row, and there are similar reactions in the negative reviews. It seems that this has nothing to do with brand service and is a common problem with instantaneous electric water heaters.
I think it is related to the high installation requirements:
Installing an instantaneous electric water heater often requires changing the socket. Wires, switches, and meters should be replaced all together. The amount of work is too large, and the after-sales workers want to save trouble, so they begin to fool customers.
.03 The water temperature is not up to standard
6000W is already a lot of power for home appliances. Nearly half of the people in the negative reviews said that the water temperature in their homes was not up to standard.
Set at 40°C, it is actually less than 30°C.
If you catch up with the winter, catch up with the winter in the north, it will be even worse! The initial water temperature is already low, and the power is not enough, which means that there is no way to take a bath.

If the power is not enough, the amount of water can only be reduced. There are still so many cases where it can't be heated, which shows how difficult it is to heat water instantaneously with electricity. Now there is an instantaneous kitchen:

.04 Poor thermostatic effect
This is a common problem with instantaneous water heaters (including gas water heaters): the water is turned off in the middle of the shower, and the water heater does not have time to stop, resulting in the water left in the tank too hot. The water heater is too late to start in a short period of time, resulting in the water temperature being too low in an instant.
Here's what we're seeing:
Turn off the water and then boil the water, the water that just came out is scalding, followed by cold water, and then it can return to normal.
This kind of hot and cold problem is called "poor constant temperature effect". However, this problem has been solved by gas water heaters: through the water volume servo, the problem of response sensitivity is solved, and at the same time, the water flow and flame size are instantly matched.
However, the instantaneous electric water heater still does not solve this problem.

There are still many people in the bad reviews who are worried about the safety of instantaneous electric water heaters, and I feel that they are too worried. Although its working current is large and the leakage hazard is large, I always firmly believe in the safety of the national standard for electric water heaters:
As long as it is a good product, I don't think there is a big chance of leakage. In addition, instantaneous electric water heaters also need to be used with surface-mounted leakage protection, and the power supply can be cut off in time once the electricity leaks.
But "there is no guarantee after sale", I think it is still possible:
• On the one hand, because there are many small brands of instantaneous electric water heaters, they do not have rich after-sales outlets like traditional brands. This will inevitably lead to the problem that after-sales supervision is not in place, or after-sales maintenance is not timely.
• On the other hand, because the product line of instantaneous electric water heaters is relatively small, and a model is eliminated after a few years, there is no new product replacement. As a result, the production of accessories cannot keep up, and sometimes it cannot be repaired if it is broken.
These problems have led to a sluggish sales of instantaneous electric water heaters. And the more it can't be sold, the less people want to improve the product. In the end, it is a vicious circle, so that this good-sounding home appliance is always on the verge of being eliminated from the market.
