On April 19, on the day of the Guyu Festival of the Lunar Calendar in the year of Jiachen, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Cangjie Cultural Tourism Festival and the ceremony of the ancestor of the Chinese character sacrifice in the year of Jiachen Guyu was held in Cangjie Town, Baoan Town, Luonan County. Relevant leaders of provinces, cities and counties and representatives of cultural and artistic circles attended the event.
At 9 o'clock, accompanied by the earth-shattering drums and distant music, the ceremony of sacrificing Cangjie in the year of Jiachen Guyu opened. The ceremony was divided into flower baskets, all the staff bowed to the Cangjie statue three times, read the sacrificial text, and performed music and dance, etc., deeply remembering the great achievements of Cangjie, the ancestor of Chinese characters, and expressing the infinite admiration and incomparable reverence of the descendants of Yan and Huang for the ancestor of Chinese characters.
The theme of this year's Cangjie Cultural Tourism Festival is "Seeking the Roots of Chinese Characters and Tasting Healthy Luonan", which will be held from April 18th to 19th, and will be divided into a series of activities such as warm-up before the opening ceremony, opening ceremony and Cangjie cultural inheritance activities in Heitan Village, calligraphy and painting brush meeting, sacrificial Cangjie ceremony and mass worship, Cangjie cultural report, intangible cultural heritage products and special food exhibition and sales.
It is understood that Cangjie, as the inventor and creator of writing, has been revered as the "saint of word-making" and "the first ancestor of humanity" since ancient times, and since the Han Dynasty, Guyu sacrifice to Cangjie has become an important cultural tradition of the Chinese nation and an important cultural activity to enhance the cohesion of the Chinese nation, reflecting the worship and gratitude of the Han nation to the ancestor of writing. In 2014, the Cangjie ceremony of Guyu Gong in Luonan County was selected into the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
