"Watches and Wonders" 2024|Beyond the watch, the space design shows the beauty of time

Geneva has always been known for its horological scene, and in early April this year, the city was immersed in the horological atmosphere with the Watches and Wonders Geneva fair.

From the moment you step into Geneva Airport, the clocks and billboards at baggage claim are vying to convey the brand's message, and even watch dealers who are not at the fair are holding a series of events around the famous Fountain in Geneva, either directly related to timekeeping works or through a series of art installations, to express their understanding of time.

The design in the exhibition hall is even more exciting, and the first thing visitors see is the booth layout before they touch the timekeeping works. Good space design can not only highlight the product, but also further deepen the audience's impression of the brand.

The Hermès showroom was designed by Erin O'Keefe, an American architect and visual artist who creates a sense of disorientation and illusion by interconnecting the style of cave art with the minimalist forms of modernist sculpture in a multi-coloured spatial structure.

As the pace moves, the field of view is constantly changing, and the multiple works in the exhibition hall are also subtly presented in the moving room. Erin O'Keefe wanted to echo the Hermès Cut with a design that reveals its true beauty only at certain angles.

IWC's new Portugieser collection is designed with the motto "A Tribute to Timelessness" in mind, and the showroom design also incorporates the day-night cycle of time. The entire exhibition hall is like a miniature universe, and stepping into the exhibition hall is like exploring the vast galaxy. The new product display area is surrounded by water design elements, and a lunar installation with a soft light hangs above the center, creating a timeless scene of alternating day and night and time through the light and shadow effects of movement and stillness, light and darkness. The undulating golden sand dunes, the vast blue horizon and the deep and mysterious night sky in the exhibition hall are all part of a magical journey.

To coincide with the glacier collection on display, Montblanc has transformed the exhibition hall into a mysterious blue glacial deep sea, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the exploration. Follow a bright band of light into the Montblanc showroom, inspired by a freediver's guide rope in the sea. Following this "lifeline", the entrance to the exhibition hall gradually dives into the "hinterland of the deep sea", where the ground gradually takes on a dark blue, and the bright and dazzling ice cube in the center of the exhibition hall appears in front of you.

Looking up, rays of light pour down as the sun shines through the sea, and at the center of the light is Montblanc's 2024 creation. The entire art installation, the Ice Cube, adopts interactive projection technology, which is precisely controlled by dynamic sensors, and flows with the flow of people.

Baume & Mercier's booth was inspired by the Riviera Riviera and echoed the new models of the Riviera collection that were launched at the fair. From the minimalist modern villa lines that dot the coastline to the tides that lap on the shore and are conquered by sports enthusiasts, this idyllic stretch of coast blends stunning natural beauty with sophisticated modern cultural landscapes.

In the booth, golden tubes of varying lengths hang down from the ceiling and are reflected in the mirrors on the floor, extending the vertical space. The light at the bottom of the tube gradually brightens up and spreads out layer by layer, like the evening sun on the sea, reminiscent of the vivid art de vivre of the Côte d'Azur: people enjoy every happy evening.
