The new products released each year at the Watches & Wonders Haute Horlogerie fair in Geneva often capture the stylistic trends of the entire watch market. As can be seen from the 2024 Watch Show, the watch industry is still taking action to de-gender, with new product development revolving around style and taste, and rarely creating according to the binary gender.

Many of the collections, which used to be mainly aimed at men, have continued the original style with more watches with subdials. Some of the new women's watch collections are also moving closer to neutral in design, while offering larger sizes. Gender mobility is expected to be more frequent in new watches, and the two genders are gradually forming a "two-way street" in the criteria for choosing watches.

Hermès new Hermès Cut women's watch

The highlight of Hermès' exhibition is a new collection of women's watches, the Hermès Cut.

Significantly different from Hermès' previous women's watches, the new Hermès Cut watch has a rounded dial with clean lines and a variety of rubber strap options in different colors, making it suitable for urban women to use in a variety of scenarios such as business, leisure and sports.

The shape of a dial that resembles a round and not a round dial illustrates Hermès' ingenuity in conception. Versatile in how it can be worn, with sharp edges and clean lines, this watch redefines the brand's watches and makes them uniquely timely.

This is very reminiscent of the Hermès H08 men's collection, which was already a commercial success. Hermès launched the H08 three years ago, and for the next three years it was a best-selling product in the Hermès watch division. Guided by the style of the Hermès menswear department, the watch is designed with sleek and tight lines, a round dial in a case with curved corners, a lightweight mineral composite material, and a choice of colourful rubber, titanium and sturdy textile straps, adding new options for Hermès male guests in both casual and sporty settings.

It is worth noting that in a previous interview, the head of Hermès watches had mentioned that the H08 series watches were also popular with Hermès female guests. It is not difficult to see that the new Hermès Cut women's watch launched in 2024 is in the same vein as the H08 series in terms of product development. The success of the latter in the market has undoubtedly accumulated rich experience and solid market feedback for the launch of luxury sports women's watches.

The new Hermès Cut collection consists of four different models: a stainless steel version, a two-tone version in rose gold, and two stainless steel models set with 56 diamonds. Each watch is fitted with a metal strap that can be easily detached, but it also comes with a choice of rubber straps in 8 colours.

Notably, the new Hermès Cut Ladies is powered by the Hermès H1912 in-house automatic movement, which can be admired by the wearer through the transparent sapphire caseback.

伯爵POLO DATE 150周年纪念版腕表

Over the past two years, Piaget has become more and more aware of its product strategy, which is to return to the creations of the seventies and eighties for inspiration, and to satisfy the new nostalgia for vintage-style watches of that period in the current market.

2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the Piaget brand, and to commemorate this special year, Piaget has presented two new Polo Date watches at this year's watch fair, paying tribute to the birth of the Piaget Polo collection and its far-reaching impact on the brand and the industry.

One of the two POLO watches is a 42 mm large three-hand watch with a date display, presented on a brown strap and powered by the in-house 1110P automatic movement. The other is a 36 mm model with a beige strap set with 91 brilliant-cut diamonds and a 500P1 movement. Both models are limited to 300 pieces each.

It is worth noting that the dials of the two new Piaget Polo commemorative models are decorated with a round engraving, which echoes the signature engraving of Piaget's first Polo gold watch launched in 1979. Not only that, but the design of the hands of these two commemorative watches echoes that of vintage watches, both in rose gold.

The Polo luxury sporty watch is Piaget's most iconic watch collection. Created by Yves Piaget, the great-grandson of Piaget's founder, the collection was created in precious gold, continuing the tradition of using precious metals since 1957. It wasn't until the 21st century, as steel became popular, that the Polo series began to be built in steel on a large scale.

Reimagined in brown, beige and rose gold, with precious metals in stainless steel and a rubber strap for the first time on a 36 mm watch, Piaget has adapted it to the market. Piaget also notes that the diamond-set models in the two pairs are "suitable for both men and women, and this multifaceted watchmaking philosophy is now the norm." ”

TAG Heuer's new Carrera Date

Traditionally, more male-friendly watches are adding smaller sizes, and 36 mm diameter dials tend to be the right size for both men and women. At this year's show, TAG Heuer unveiled three new Carrera watches, all with a dial diameter of 36 mm.

The aim is also to take care of nostalgia, as the original Heuer Carrera, which was born in 1963, also features a 36 mm size. At that time, Jack Heuer, a descendant of the TAG Heuer family and a legend in the world of watchmaking, conceived a timepiece that was both designed and functional. He was inspired by the clear dashboard surfaces he touches every day, as well as the fast-moving dashboards of racing cars, to create the original TAG Heuer Carrera.

2023 is the year of the return of the Carrera collection. TAG Heuer's engineers have kept the returning Carrera between 10.2 and 10.6 mm thick in order to provide a comfortable fit.

For TAG Heuer, the 36 mm Carrera is designed to be a clever blend of masculinity and femininity, "unisex". The three new Carrera models to be launched in 2024 are based on the 36 mm Carrera collection, which will be relaunched in 2023.

Crafted from precious materials such as 18-carat 5N rose gold, mother-of-pearl and diamonds, the three new creations further enrich the Carrera collection. All three models are powered by TAG Heuer's latest Calibre 7 automatic movement with a power reserve of 56 hours.

Vacheron Constantin's new Ealing Moon Phase watch

The haute couture industry is also intervening in the haute horlogerie industry, which Vacheron Constantin will try to do in 2024. At this year's show, Vacheron Constantin unveiled an Ealing moon phase watch, the result of a collaboration between the Maison and haute couture designer Yin Yiqing.

Vacheron Constantin launched the Goddess Ealing collection in 2020, marking the beginning of the Maison's creation of haute horlogerie exclusively for women. Now, the collaboration with Yin Yiqing is also the first time in the brand's history that it has launched a creative collaboration with the young talents of "One of Not Many", which is a bold attempt.

Featuring three quick-change straps, this moon phase watch features a 37 mm pink gold case with a diamond-set bezel and a delicate lilac-purple dial. The new model continues the elegant and refined aesthetic of the Ealing collection, with a mother-of-pearl dial alternating glossy and crinkled finishes, and a moon phase disc that appears on a diagonal line between the Vacheron Constantin logo and the crown.

The watch is powered by Vacheron Constantin-manufactured 1088L calibre, with a transparent caseback that allows for a clear view of the movement's movements. The delicate Maltese cross-skeleton 22-carat gold oscillating weight rotates lightly across the hand-brushed Côtes de Genève decoration on the movement's surface.

Echoing this iconic Haute Horlogerie detail, Yin Yiqing's name is engraved on the case back, alongside the individual number of each timepiece, and is limited to 100 pieces.
