Following the announcement of the return of the 10th Annual Charity Auction on May 10, 2024, Patek Philippe has finally launched the Ref.6301A-010 Minute Repeater "Only Watch". Based on the regular Ref.6301 model, this watch features a stainless steel case with a rare hand-guilloché dial decorated with translucent teal enamel and 12 baguette-cut diamond hour markers.
It is worth mentioning that the 10th Only Watch Charity Auction was originally scheduled to take place on November 5, 2023, and Patek Philippe prepared a Ref.1938P minute repeater alarm watch. After the postponement of the event, the brand has created a new Ref.6301A-010 small and small sonnerie minute repeater rare craft watch. It is also the second most complicated model created by Patek Philippe for the Only Watch, after the 2019 Ref. 6300A-010, which has yet to break the auction record of CHF 31 million.
With a diameter of 44.8 mm and a thickness of 12.3 mm, the new model is the same as the regular Ref. 6301 and is one of the largest Patek Philippe watches. The difference is that the new watch is made of stainless steel, which is much lighter and easier to wear than the regular platinum version.
In terms of appearance, the biggest difference between the new watch and the regular Ref.6301 model is the dial. The 18-carat gold dial of the new model has been hand-guillochéed and then covered with blue-green enamel and fired in an oven to create a smooth, translucent surface that reveals the spiral pattern underneath.
The dial is set with 12 baguette-cut diamonds that act as hour markers. The 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions feature a power reserve indicator with an alarm function and a timekeeping function, while the words "Only One" are subtly integrated to underline the exclusive status. Interestingly, the regular leaf-shaped hands have also been removed from the dial and replaced with toffee hands, giving it a more modern look.
Powered by the same GS 36-750 PS IRM calibre as the regular Ref. 6301 model, the hand-wound movement combines a large and small sonnerie function and can strike the moment (with silent mode). In addition, the GS 36-750 PS IRM calibre features a minute repeater, activated by a pusher integrated into the crown, to tell the time on demand. The movement is equipped with two barrels, one for the time and the other for striking the time.
