More than 10 villagers worked together to make nests and sow peanut seeds along the straightened fixed-distance ropes. The technicians carefully recorded the seeds and instructed the villagers to sow seeds and cover the soil. Different from field planting, the field management of the experimental field has strict requirements from land leveling, experimental community design, to fertilization, sowing, soil covering, etc.
Seeds are the "chips" of agriculture. Peanut is an important oil crop and cash crop in mainland China, and it is widely planted and distributed in China. In Zigong, Sichuan, the "Five Treasure Peanuts" with a long history of planting and fragrant and delicious taste are even more famous. As the main peanut producing area in southern Sichuan, it is the "password" for the sustainable and healthy development of the "Wubao peanut" industry to insist on updating peanut varieties and improving planting technology, and continuously improving peanut quality, yield and economic benefits.
One of the important measures is to carry out new variety trials and cultivate the "master variety" of Wubao peanuts. "We have introduced new peanut varieties from different seed companies and scientific research units for comparative testing, so that we can screen new varieties suitable for local cultivation for demonstration and promotion, further expand local characteristic industries, and promote high-quality agricultural development and rural revitalization. Deng Xuedong, an extension researcher at Gongjing District Agricultural Technology Station, said.
It is understood that Gongjing District is expected to plant more than 35,000 acres of peanuts this year, mainly distributed in Wubao, Lianhua and other towns, so far, more than 20,000 acres have been sown. (Cheng Jie)
