Qingyan rose candy has a history of more than 100 years and was first created by the Pingzheng Kuan family on Qingyan Street in 1874. According to legend, Ichihei was shopping wide and saw a child selling rose petals. The scent of rose petals tempted him to think that if the rose smell was mixed with sugar, it would be fragrant and sweet. So he bought some roses to chop, added "bowl sugar" to make preserves, and put them in clay bowls to dry in the sun. Glutinous rice and wheat are then made into maltose, add sesame seeds, walnut kernels, sand sugar and rose candied fruit, knead and cut into thin slices or strips, which become sweet and crisp rose-scented flakes of candy. The sugar sold out as soon as it was on the market. Since then, the Ping family has taken this as its business. Originally called hemp candy, it was renamed rose candy because of its rose scent. Later, therefore, sugar was produced in Qingyan and was called Qingyan rose sugar.
