Mao Jingwen (December 1956-), elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2017, is a mineral deposit geology and mineral exploration scientist.

Academician Mao Jingwen is a native of Yuncheng, Shanxi. He graduated from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences in 1988 with a doctorate degree. He is currently a researcher at the Institute of Mineral Resources of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, the director of the Key Laboratory of Metallogenesis and Resource Evaluation of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the director of the Mineral Deposits Professional Committee of the Geological Society of China, and the deputy director of the Institute of Mineral Resources of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and the chairman of the International Association of Mineral Deposit Genesis.

Academician Mao Jingwen has long been committed to the research of ore deposit model and metallogenic law and prospecting and exploration, and in view of the large-scale intraplate metallogenic events in the Yanshan period in the eastern part of the mainland, by cracking the temporal and spatial distribution of metallogenic metallogenesis, the distribution of materials and the structural control law, he innovatively constructed the intraplate metallogenic dynamic model, developed the metallogenic theory, and effectively guided the prospecting and exploration deployment. The 10 groups of ore deposit combination models proposed by him have been used by relevant geological exploration units and mining companies for prospecting and exploration, and have promoted major breakthroughs in hidden ore prospecting. As the first winner, Academician Mao Jingwen won one second prize of the National Natural Science Award, two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and four first and second prizes of the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Awards.
