BYD looks up to the U8 and is on fire again! This time it has actually become the car of the President of Uzbekistan! Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, personally delivered this limousine to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the headquarters. However, this car is much more than just a presidential car, it is also the 10,000th vehicle delivered by BYD in the Uzbek market. Therefore, the focus is not on giving gifts, but on announcing BYD's great success in the Uzbek market.
So, what is the connection between BYD and the Uzbek market?
In fact, the two are very closely linked. As we all know, BYD has three overseas vehicle production bases, located in Thailand, Brazil and Hungary (under construction). However, in Uzbekistan, BYD also operates a joint venture plant with local state-owned automaker UzAuto, unlike the other three factories that are wholly owned by BYD.
Of course, Mirziyoyev will not visit BYD and pick up the car for no reason, his main purpose is to promote cooperation. The joint venture plant between Uzbekistan and BYD has already started production, and Mirziyoyev and Wang Chuanfu attended the launching ceremony, visited BYD's acupuncture laboratory, and watched the outstanding performance of the U8.
It can be seen from this incident that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the cooperative relationship with BYD.
In fact, BYD and UzAuto signed an agreement in December 2022 to jointly establish a joint venture factory, and after more than a year, the plant was officially put into operation, mainly producing two models, the destroyer and the Song.
In March 2023, BYD's Song PLUS DM-i, Han EV and Destroyer 05 were launched in the Uzbek market, of which the starting price of the Han EV is 610 million sums, equivalent to 355,000 yuan, which is about 40% more expensive than in China.
In October last year, the city of Tash, Uzbekistan, purchased 2,000 electric buses from BYD to help the green transformation of transportation. Electric buses are expensive, with a conservative estimate of 2 million yuan each, while the total value of 2,000 buses is about 4 billion yuan. It is reported that it will be put into local operation in 2024 and contribute to the green transformation of transportation.
Taking this opportunity, we can also talk about BYD's road to the sea.
BYD really began to internationalize in May 2021 and released its "Passenger Car Overseas" plan. Last year, BYD exported a total of 242,759 new energy vehicles, ranking first in terms of new energy exports. However, if we add in the export volume of gasoline-powered vehicles, this scale is not enough, for example, SAIC Motor exported more than 1 million units last year.
This year, BYD plans to launch more models in the global market and increase its efforts to go overseas, such as the Song PLUS EV and the Denza D9 EV will enter the European market. Of course, we can't rule out the possibility of a global launch of Formula Leopard or Yangwang brand models.
Another noteworthy news is that BYD began to build its own ro-ro ship to transport new energy vehicles, the first "Pioneer 1" has been put into operation, loaded with 5,449 new energy vehicles from Shenzhen to Europe on January 15 this year, there will be "Pioneer 2", "Pioneer 3" and other ships in the future.
In addition, the Uzbekistan plant has already started production, and this year the plants in Thailand and Brazil will also start operations. Combined with BYD's series of preparations to go overseas, it can be speculated that BYD's automobile exports will increase this year.
Finally, let's talk about our impressions of BYD.
In the past, the impression of BYD was usually that the three-electric technology was relatively strong, but the intelligence was relatively weak. However, after the BYD Dream Day press conference, this impression has changed. Because BYD has re-planned the intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving system, and released the Xuanji architecture, it seems that BYD is developing in the direction of intelligence, and I personally think that the experience in this area is very worth looking forward to.
In short, in the past, when we mentioned the president's car, we would think of luxury cars such as Lincoln One, Maybach S-Class, Lexus LS, etc., and now there is another domestic U8. In any case, I believe that this is undoubtedly a good thing for enhancing the influence of domestic car brands!
