The reporter learned from Kedaodun Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. on April 25 that the Institute of Quantum Information and Quantum Technology Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered a 504-bit superconducting quantum computing chip "Xiaohong" to the company, which refreshed the record for the number of bits of superconducting quantum chips in China, and plans to open it to the world through the quantum computing cloud platform. The measurement and control system and quantum computing chip are the core hardware of the quantum computer, and the measurement and control system will greatly affect the overall performance of the quantum computer. In order to verify the overall performance and various indicators of the large-scale measurement and control system, the most direct way is to customize the special chip for comprehensive and systematic testing. To this end, the Quantum Innovation Institute customized and developed the 504-bit quantum computing chip "Xiaohong" to verify the thousand-bit measurement and control system independently developed by Guodun Quantum.

Liang Futian, associate professor of the Institute of Quantum Innovation, said that while integrating more than 500 bits, this customized chip is expected to reach the chip performance of IBM and other international mainstream quantum computing cloud platforms in key indicators such as qubit life, gate fidelity, gate depth, and reading fidelity, which can fully meet the needs of kilobit measurement and control system verification. Gong Ming, a researcher at the Institute of Quantum Innovation, emphasized that although it has set a new record for the number of qubits in China, the main purpose of the "Xiaohong" chip is to promote the development of large-scale quantum computing measurement and control systems, and it does not have the ability to achieve "quantum computing superiority". In 2021, Chinese scientists successfully developed the 113-photon Jiuzhang-2 and the 66-bit Zu Chongzhi-2 quantum computing prototype, making China the only country to achieve "quantum superiority" in both superconducting quantum and optical quantum physical systems. "The cloud access of '500+ bit' quantum computers can efficiently carry out research on problems and algorithms with practical value by users in various fields, accelerate the application of quantum computing in practical scenarios, and lead the rapid development of the quantum computing ecosystem. Wang Zhen, deputy general manager of China Telecom Quantum Group, said that in the next step, China Telecom Quantum Group will unite the shield quantum, rely on the "Xiaohong" chip to develop a quantum computing machine, access to the "Tianyan" quantum computing cloud platform of China Telecom Quantum Group, and open it to global users.
