According to Cambodian media reports, from January 25 to 26, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, Lim Tu Ruthep, led relevant officials to inspect the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet highway project site with representatives of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
The purpose of the inspection was to gather relevant information and make recommendations to the construction company to inspect and make modifications, especially the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway in the first phase. The inspection was carried out after the Ministry of Transport had received the feasibility study report of the company's project engineering scheme.
The delegation instructed the company to re-examine the entrance to Phnom Penh (Highway 6A) to minimise the affected road sections and traffic congestion. The delegation also inspected traffic diversion points.
For the second phase of the Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway, the Ministry of Transport will hold a meeting with relevant agencies and authorities, especially the Fairy Agency, to study and provide advice on urban road sections. The Delegation requested the Provincial Ministry of Transport to continue to provide clear data to companies in order to add additional elements to the study.
It is reported that the company plans to complete the draft feasibility study of the project engineering plan in February 2024, and will complete the project feasibility study, which is expected to be submitted to the government in early June 2024.
For the Siem Reap-Poipet project, the site study will be completed in March 2024 and the draft feasibility study of the project will be completed in May 2024 and submitted to the Ministry of Transport for review and revision.
