The World Karate Federation announced the latest world rankings, and the Hong Kong team's karate representative Lau Mu-sheung rose to the first place in the world with 7,125 points in the women's individual event, becoming the first karate athlete in Hong Kong to ascend the "World One" throne.

Liu Mushang said on social platforms today (3rd) that she would like to thank her team, friends and family for their strong support. This success reminds her to keep pushing boundaries and keep believing in herself.

Beginning representing Hong Kong at the age of 16, she became a full-time karate athlete by 2015 and has long been ranked at the top of the world rankings, winning a bronze medal at the 2018 World Championships. On August 5, 2021, she defeated Turkey's Dilara Bozan at the 2020 Summer Olympics to win the bronze medal in the women's individual karate event. In the women's individual karate event of the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, Liu Mushang scored 43.4 points in the bronze medal match, 2.8 points higher than her Vietnamese opponent, and successfully won the bronze medal.
