From 27 to 31 December last year, the Correctional Services Department (CSD) organised the "Youth National Education Series: A Cultural Journey in Search of Roots", during which 50 trainees of the CSD's youth uniformed team visited Zhaoqing, Guangzhou and Huizhou to learn more about the national situation and the development of the country, as well as deepen their understanding of Chinese culture and history.

On the morning of December 27, the delegation took the high-speed rail from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Zhaoqing for inspection. They first visited Sihui Prison to learn more about the country's prison management operations, rehabilitation work and local induction training courses. In addition, members of the group were also arranged to experience e-shooting training. Afterwards, they visited Guangdong Zhaoqing Secondary School to play frisbee games and dine with local students, so as to enhance their interaction and understanding of the local food culture.

The next day, the delegates visited Pui Ching Secondary School, which has been established for more than 130 years, in Guangzhou, and had group exchanges with local students, including sharing their experience in participating in different extra-curricular activities, such as drama, pop dance and photography, to understand the different living and learning habits of students in XiXi two places. The delegation then visited the Guangzhou Substation Science Popularization Center and the Anti-drug Education Center.

On the last two days of the trip, Li Kuangyi, Director of the "Rehabilitation Pioneer Leaders", and Yang Yanzhi, Deputy Director of the "Rehabilitation Pioneer Leaders", led the delegation to visit Huizhou, where they visited the local precision parts production enterprises, patriotic education bases and historical and cultural attractions. During the visit to Huizhou Sports School, the members of the team also played a basketball game with local students to enhance friendship. In addition, the delegation also arranged for the delegation members to participate in creative activities with local students, using eco-friendly brick coasters produced by the Correctional Services Department (CSD) to create special coasters with the theme of "Blessing", and to exchange coasters to each other as souvenirs, so as to promote exchanges and integration between young people of the two places.

Since the launch of the "Youth National Education Series: Cultural Journey in Seeking Roots" in February 2023, the CSD has organised five visits so far, including the last stop of the study tours to Zhaoqing, Guangzhou and Huizhou, which led about 170 Rehabilitation Pioneer Leaders to visit nine Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area and the Macao Special Administrative Region, so that they can experience and appreciate Chinese culture, understand and grasp the opportunities of the diversified development of the motherland, and enhance their patriotic feelings.
