On the morning of July 26, 2015, I rode to Yangshuiping Village, Tuanjie Town, pushed the cart on a wide yard dam, stood in front of a beautiful new house, supported the bicycle, knocked on a door, an elderly grandfather opened the door, and at the same time, also opened a life experience that had been sealed in the dust for more than 60 years.
This old man is Zhang Yuanhua, a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
Zhang Yuanhua was born in October 1920, his family lived in Tuanjie Laowangzhai, and his family was poor when he was a child. In 1950, shortly after the birth of his son, Zhang Yuanhua chose to become a soldier: "To the Communist Party's troops, it is glorious to die." After enlisting in the army, he was assigned to the 7th Company of the 416th Regiment of the 139th Division of the 47th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the company commander Zhang Zhonghua. After participating in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he participated in many battles, and in one battle, Zhang Yuanhua was hit by shrapnel in the left thigh, and was honorably wounded.
When Zhang Yuanhua was demobilized, three comrades-in-arms who joined the army in the same village had all died, two of them were married, and he was the only one who returned home. When Zhang Yuanhua returned home, his son was 5 years old. Because of his lack of education, he began to arrange to go to the Unity Commune to drive a carriage to do work such as hauling coal and bowls, but because of the low salary, he could not support his family, so he returned to Laowangzhai to farm.
The veteran lived with his second son and moved from Laowangzhai to Yangshuiping. The house where he lives is the newly built house of the second child.
When I asked to see the veteran's injury, Zhang Yuanhua pushed his left trouser leg up, and I was shocked to see that there was still a large scar on his left thigh.
When I left, I asked the veteran: Can I take a photo of the military salute? The veteran readily agreed, immediately stood up straight, and raised his right hand in salute. I took this photo of the 95-year-old veteran's military salute.
When I visited on December 16, 2023, I didn't expect that Zhang Yuanhua, a veteran who was in good health, had good hearing, and often rode alone to unite and chat with the old people 8 years ago, passed away a few years ago.
I can't help but sigh:
From the four brothers of Rong, a hero who retired from the army. I have returned to the team again, and I am stunned!
