Li Lili, the grandson of the martyr Li Bai: Inheriting the glorious family and interpreting the immortal legend
Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Li Lili, a descendant of martyr Li Bai. When he talked about his grandfather's story, his eyes flashed with pride in his family's history and a deep understanding of the revolutionary spirit. This heir of the family vividly shows Li Bai's heroic deeds and outlines a legendary picture for us.
The story takes place in the kitchen on the third floor of the former residence of martyr Li Bai, an ordinary place that transforms into the base camp of the revolutionary secret radio station in the middle of the night. Li Lili vividly described to us how his grandfather used two wooden planks to build a newspaper platform here, silently dedicating himself to the party's cause.
Martyr Li Bai is the prototype of "Li Xia", the protagonist of the movie "The Eternal Wave", who came to Shanghai in 1937 and worked for a long time in the party's secret radio station. Under the haze of the "White Terror", he stuck to his post, maintained the telecommunications connection between the Shanghai underground party organization and Yan'an, and made outstanding contributions to the success of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation.
Li Lili recounted how his grandfather was transferred to the Third Bureau of the Central Committee, but he chose to stay in Shanghai without hesitation and continue to work in a secret radio station. In November 1948, the Kuomintang used a partition power outage to track down secret radio stations, and it was at this critical moment that martyr Li Bai sent an important report on the Kuomintang army's river defense deployment plan. This decisive piece of information gives us a glimpse of a heroic and resolute revolutionary.
However, the twist of fate is always embarrassing. At two o'clock in the morning on December 30, 1948, Li Bai was arrested. On May 7, 1949, less than 20 days before the liberation of Shanghai, he was secretly killed by Kuomintang agents at the Qijia Temple in Pudong at the age of 39. At the moment when Li Lili listened to his grandmother's story, he felt the deep grief of his family.
Li Lili said that his grandfather was not only an old Red Army, but he had very low requirements for himself in life, but he had extremely high requirements for work. Li Bai's professionalism and technical level make opponents have to admire. His technical improvement made the power of the radio station adjusted to 10 watts, and by improving the antenna and other parts, it ensured that Yan'an could receive the signal in time, and achieved 100% communication guarantee with Yan'an.
Li Bai's family spirit has been inherited in Li Lili's generation. After the death of the grandfather, the grandmother and father continued to tell the deeds of Li Bai to the youngsters, promoting traditional education. Now, Li Lili has taken over the baton and continues to inherit and carry forward the glorious history of the family.
Li Lili affectionately expressed that the revolutionary spirit of martyr Li Bai is worthy of our inheritance, and he called on us to strengthen our ideals and beliefs, pay attention to the cultivation of ability, be conscientious and responsible in our work, and carry forward the spirit of arduous struggle and hard study. This is not only a tribute to the grandfather, but also a continuation of the glorious tradition of the entire family.
