Antananarivo, 16 Dec (Xinhua) -- President-elect Rajoelina of Madagascar was sworn in in Antananarivo, the country's capital, on 16 December to begin his second five-year presidential term.

The inauguration ceremony was held on the morning of the 16th local time. In his inaugural speech, Rajoelina pledged that during his new term, he would work to improve the living conditions of the population, especially the most vulnerable, by accelerating the country's industrialization process, improving the country's business environment, providing more education and training for young people, and creating more jobs. He also said that he would focus on cracking down on all kinds of corruption.

Madagascar held the first round of voting in the presidential election on November 16, and Rajoelina was re-elected president with 58.96% of the vote.

Rajoelina was the mayor of Antananarivo and the transitional president of Malaysia. Rajoelina won the presidential election at the end of 2018 and was officially sworn in in January 2019 and served as president until September of this year.
