The development and use of the Minshan aero engine in the mainland makes the L15 export trainer not subject to the restrictions of the Ukrainian Madasich company.

The L15 was an export version of the Trainer-10, and since there were no suitable small-thrust engines in the country, the Ukrainian AI-322 was chosen at that time. After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, the delivery channel was cut off, and in fact, the second order was delivered at most 50-60 units. In the end, with the destruction of the Madasich company in the war, follow-up orders are meaningless, and even if the war ends, it will be impossible for the Ukrainian side to provide technical maintenance.

The successful development of the Minshan engine has made the L15 advanced training aircraft obtain a more powerful engine, and also cleared the obstacles for the development of the L15 advanced training aircraft at home and abroad.

Minshan engine has many advantages such as high thrust-to-weight ratio, high reliability, and low maintenance cost. It can enable the L15 trainer to reach a maximum flight speed of Mach 1.4 and a maximum ceiling of up to 16,000 meters. In addition, the engine has excellent adaptability and reliability, and can cope with a variety of complex climate and terrain conditions, ensuring the stability and reliability of the L15 trainer in various environments.
