Because aerospace work has rigid requirements for the body, and women do not have advantages, it is relatively rare for female members of astronauts to appear in any country, not to mention that Liu Yang is still the first female astronaut in the mainland, so she is naturally more expected.
After she went to space, she immediately gained a lot of fans and media attention, but after she returned to the ground, there was not much additional news, what happened in the middle, and what is her current situation?
Liu Yang's upbringing
In 1978, Liu Yang was born in an ordinary working family, as the only child in the family, she was burdened with the expectations of the family, and she also knew the difficulties of the family, she worked very hard in her studies and won many honors.
After passing the college entrance examination, it happened that Changchun Flight Academy recruited pilots, and Liu Yang's score at that time was 620 points, which met the screening conditions of the college, so Liu Yang went to the military academy with the dream of flying.
At that time, many people participated in the assessment with Liu Yang, but in the end, Liu Yang won the victory with his superb personal quality and physical condition, and became a member of the 37 female pilots, for which Liu Yang's family was very happy.
Another problem arose, Liu Yang's parents were very worried about her going to the military school, thinking that she might not be able to survive the hard training she had to endure as a girl, but Liu Yang was full of confidence and thought that she could overcome the difficulties.
After entering Changchun Flight Academy, the identity change from an ordinary student to a military student brought Liu Yang many new challenges, and the hard physical training every day made her miserable, and the original sense of superiority disappeared with the passage of time.
However, the training task under the scorching sun made Liu Yang's skin begin to have some problems, even before joining the military academy, she had been mentally prepared, but when she really faced the heavy training task, she was still a little bored.
In order to soothe her emotions, she began to write letters to some friends in high school, in which Liu Yang complained about the hardships of the training and the severity of the instructors, hoping to get some comfort. However, after receiving a reply from his classmates, Liu Yang immediately stabilized his mentality.
Friends told her that the current situation is happy, because you have found your own direction in life, and you are constantly striving for it, and her classmates are very envious of her being able to determine her goals so early, and if she is depressed, she will give up the opportunity.
After being enlightened by his classmates, Liu Yang devoted himself to the training task with a positive attitude, which also made Liu Yang begin to change his way of thinking, and began to strive to achieve better training indicators and make greater progress.
In addition, because Liu Yang's own physical fitness is not the best among them, she often chooses to increase the total amount of training to make up for her congenital shortcomings. It is precisely because of Liu Yang's continuous efforts that he can break through one difficulty after another and finally stand out.
The hard work in training allowed her to perform well in the final exam and won the title of outstanding cadet, this period is also a precious period of wealth for Liu Yang, when the reporter interviews Liu Yang, she often mentions this military school experience.
She said that it was precisely because of the experience of the military academy that she understood that she should be more cautious and meticulous in her work, and that the most important task in scientific research and academic work was to be precise and carry out tasks in strict accordance with the corresponding rules, which had become a habit for her.

Served as a pilot
With relevant skills and experience, Liu Yang graduated in 2001 and went to Guangzhou Airlines to start a new journey. After that, Liu Yang's senior Yang Liwei served as the astronaut of Shenzhou 5, which gave her a new goal.
In order to be able to go to space like a senior, Liu Yang began to be more strict with himself, and finally joined the China Astronaut Center at the age of 32 and became an astronaut candidate.
The conditions for selecting astronauts are extremely harsh, both physical and mental, there are various requirements, Liu Yang, as a female astronaut, is not easy to meet the corresponding standards in physical fitness, and Liu Yang's efforts for this are obvious.
However, even if they are on the shortlist, it does not mean that they will be at ease in the future, but they will have to carry out more intensive related training, and in order to simulate the cabin environment, many candidates need to wear 200 kilograms of training clothes and soak in water.
This kind of training method has great requirements for physical fitness, and other activities can not be carried out during the training period, because long hair will hinder training during training, so Liu Yang cut his hair short to adapt to his own training style.
When recalling the training process, Liu Yang emphasized that the original captain told them on the first day that there is no gender on the training ground, and the physical fitness of aviation work is a mandatory requirement, and if they can't meet it, they can't serve as astronauts.

Due to the great difference in the training methods of the two sides, in the early days of joining the space center, Liu Yang often felt uncomfortable because of training, and even became a kind of torture, but in order to make up for the training tasks he missed, Liu Yang forced himself to increase the amount of training.
The expert told her that in centrifuge training, once she can't hold on to it for a certain period of time many times, the body will form relevant memories, and as long as it comes to this time, she will not be able to hold on, and finally give up all her efforts.
Therefore, in order to increase his persistence time, every time Liu Yang would come out a little later than the last time, and then he couldn't hold on, so Liu Yang began to imagine some relaxing pictures, such as the beach or the sunset.
With her perseverance and persistence, Liu Yang still achieved excellent results in astronaut training, and was finally selected as the astronaut of Shenzhou 9 in 2012, and her goal of flying into space can finally be achieved.

Life after returning to the ground
After the completion of the aviation mission, Liu Yang's figure in the media suddenly faded, in fact, because she began to focus on life, Liu Yang was married in 2004, but because her family supported her dream, she was unable to have her own children.
So after 34-year-old Liu Yang returned from space, he returned to his family. In 2016, Liu Yang appeared on CCTV's national defense program, when she already had a son and a daughter, and her life was very happy.
However, Liu Yang did not give up his aerospace career, and still held some jobs in the space bureau to pass on experience to new astronauts, and Liu Yang also obtained a doctorate from Tsinghua University in his spare time.
In 2019, Liu Yang was once again selected for the space group with his outstanding personal qualities, and in 2022, he took Shenzhou 14 to space and carried out a space mission lasting 180 days, which can be described as a representative of outstanding women in China.

In mid-October, Liu Yang participated in public welfare activities in Beijing, leading blind children in Chongqing to visit the space city, in order to let them experience the spirit of aerospace more intuitively, Liu Yang asked them to touch the national flag and the armband on her spacesuit.
Through this activity, the blind children have more cognition and understanding of aerospace work, and have more curiosity about life, and I believe that they will be able to face the future with a more positive attitude.
