Autumn and winter are the peak seasons of the year for influenza. On November 13, the National Health Commission introduced at a press conference that with the successive winters in various places, respiratory diseases have entered the high incidence season, and a variety of respiratory diseases are intertwined and superimposed.

In order to strengthen the prevention of influenza, the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine started from the prevention of disease treatment and health care, combined with the climatic characteristics of Guangdong, entrusted the Provincial Quality Control Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Preventive Diseases, and organized experts to compile the "Guidelines for the Prevention of Disease Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Autumn and Winter of 2023 in Guangdong Province".

The expert group reminded that after the autumn of this year, the climate in Guangdong is changeable, with repeated typhoons, frequent influenza and new crowns, and acute gastroenteritis. According to the characteristics of respiratory diseases, digestive system diseases, etc., the pathogenesis, cold and heat, and changeable symptoms this year, the expert group suggested that the theory of "heaven and man corresponding" can be combined with the use of traditional Chinese medicine to treat pre-disease dietary therapy, meridian health care and other methods to strengthen the surface and prevent infection.

The specific content of the "Guidelines" includes traditional Chinese medicine dietary therapy and health care prescriptions for different constitutions in the pre-disease period and disease period, as well as external treatment methods of traditional Chinese medicine such as foot bathing, moxibustion, and Chinese medicine hot compress. The details are as follows:

1. Traditional Chinese medicine diet therapy and health care prescription

(1) Pre-illness period - preventive dietary prescription

1. Peaceful physique recuperation formula - mulberry chrysanthemum tangerine peel mint tea

People with a peaceful physique, due to the influence of the autumn and winter climate, are easy to feel the evil of wind and dryness, and the lungs are lost and the upper focus is heated, resulting in dry mouth and nose, and sometimes there are symptoms such as throat discomfort, cough and less phlegm, dry skin, and dry eyes.

Ingredients: 5 grams of mulberry leaves, 4 chrysanthemums, 5 grams of tangerine peel, 2 grams of mint.

Method: Brew with hot water and drink, you can also choose to boil for 5-10 minutes. Serves 1 person, 1 time per day.

Note: This tea drink was born from Wu Jutong's "Differentiation of Warm Diseases" in the Qing Dynasty. Among them, mulberry leaves are cold and sweet, and have the effects of evacuating wind and heat, clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, clearing the liver and eyes, and relieving depression. Chrysanthemum is slightly cold, sweet and bitter in taste, and has the effect of evacuating wind and heat, calming liver yang, clearing the liver and brightening the purpose. Mulberry leaves and chrysanthemums must be used as the main medicine in the prevention and treatment of dry colds in autumn, and they are indispensable. Plus mint clears heat and relieves throat. Tangerine peel regulates qi, strengthens the spleen, and dissolves phlegm. Together, it plays a role in strengthening the spleen and lungs, clearing away the evil of wind and dryness, and preventing colds.

2. Yin deficiency physique recuperation prescription - Sanshen Runlung Soup

People with yin deficiency constitution, under the influence of autumn and winter weather, are more likely to feel dry mouth, dry eyes, insomnia, dry stool or even granular, or prone to deficiency fire, itchy rash on the skin, acne, or body weakness and susceptibility to colds, but the deficiency is not replenished.

Ingredients: 30 grams of prince ginseng and sand cucumber, 15 grams of scutellaria, half a duck, tangerine peel, ginger, peanut oil, and salt.

The duck is fried in a pot with ginger and oil, and the coldness is greatly reduced. This soup recipe effectively relieves discomforts such as dry throat and nose, dry cough without phlegm, constipation, dry skin, etc., and improves symptoms and strengthens physical fitness by replenishing qi and nourishing yin.

Precautions: Cough, throat discomfort and loose stools caused by wind and cold should not be used.

3. Qi deficiency physique conditioning prescription - five-fingered peach and red date stewed pork ribs

People with a weak constitution are prone to fatigue, shortness of breath, sweating, fear of wind and colds, or dry skin, or tonics or fried products are easy to get angry.

Ingredients: 100 grams of five-finger peach, 30 grams of jade bamboo, 6 red dates (pitted), 350 grams of pork ribs, ginger and salt.

Method: Chop the ribs, wash and blanch. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil, add all the ingredients, turn to low heat and boil for 1.5 hours after boiling, and season to taste. Serves 3 people, 1-2 times a week.

Note: Five-fingered peach is slightly warm and sweet in taste, can strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness, dissolve phlegm, relax tendons and activate the nerves, and is known as "Nanqi". With the jade bamboo that nourishes the qi and moistens the heart and lungs, the red dates that nourish the blood in the middle, and the ginger in the warmth, the qi and blood double tonify and prevent external feelings.

Precautions: Not suitable for people with damp and hot constitution.

(2) Disease period - symptom relief dietary prescription

1. Wind chill cold, cold and nasal congestion - tangerine peel Pu'er ginger mother tea

Ingredients: 1 clove of Xinhui tangerine peel, 3 grams of Pu'er tea, 1 piece of ginger tea (or 3-5 slices of ginger with an appropriate amount of brown sugar).

Method: Brew with hot water and drink, you can also choose to boil for 5-10 minutes. Serves 1 person.

Note: Ginger mother tea is made of brown sugar (or brown sugar) and old ginger, which can not only prevent colds, warm menstruation and nourish blood, but also have the effect of beautifying the skin; plus Xinhui tangerine peel (it is best to choose about 10 years), it can not only enhance its original effect, but also help to regulate the qi, dry and damp and dissolve phlegm; It is suitable for people who have serious fatigue, nasal congestion and runny nose in the early stage of a cold, and have poor appetite, light mouth, or chills, cold hands and feet.

2. Wind heat cold, cough and phlegm - Sydney apple monk fruit soup

Ingredients: 1 apple, 1 pear, 10 grams of monk fruit, 3 slices of ginger peeled.

Method: Wash apples and pears, remove the core and cut into pieces, add an appropriate amount of water with monk fruit and tangerine peel, and boil over low heat for 1 hour. Serves 1 person.

Note: Sydney pear is sweet and sour, cool in nature, can clear the lungs and dissolve phlegm, and quench thirst. Apples are sweet and sour, flat in nature, and beneficial to the stomach. Monk fruit with ginger to promote lung qi and relieve the surface of the drink. It is suitable for auxiliary dietary therapy when wind, heat, cold, cough and phlegm.

3. Wind chill cough - fresh ginger, radish and almond drink

Ingredients: 250 grams of white radish, 15 grams of ginger, 5 grams of northern almonds, 5 grams of southern almonds.

Method: Wash and chop the white radish and ginger, add the north and south apricots, squeeze the juice in a food processor, and serve 1 person.

Note: This recipe is made by adding flavor to the fresh ginger radish juice of "Puji Fang". Ginger has a spicy taste and a slightly warm nature. Return to the lungs, spleen and stomach meridians, dissipate cold and relieve the surface, warm the lungs and drink, warm the stomach and stop vomiting, suitable for wind and cold. White radish has a spicy and sweet taste, cool nature, enters the lungs and stomach meridians, and is good at dissolving phlegm, and raw food is better. "Suixingju Diet Recipe" Yun Qi can "treat cough and aphonia, throat diseases". Almonds relieve cough and asthma, moisten the intestines and laxative, and use the same apricots in the north and south, taking both the medicinal properties of the north apricots and the sweetness of the southern apricots. The whole formula can be used in the early stage of wind chill and cold, itchy throat, cough with phlegm, and unfavorable symptoms of the throat.

4.阴虚燥咳——麦冬雪梨清汤

Ingredients: 15 grams of wheat winter, 1-2 pears, 10 grams of apricots, 2-3 fresh figs (or dried).

Method: Wash the ingredients, cut the pear into pieces, put an appropriate amount of water into the pot and boil, add the above ingredients, simmer for 30 minutes, and season.

Note: Wheat winter is slightly cold and sweet in taste, returning to the heart, lungs and stomach meridians, and has the effect of nourishing yin and nourishing the body, moistening the lungs and clearing the heart. Sydney pear is cool and sweet, has the effect of moisturizing dryness, clearing heat and dissolving phlegm, because it is tender and juicy, sweet and sour and palatable, so it is called "natural mineral water". Figs are sweet and delicious, almonds moisten the lungs and relieve cough, especially suitable for people who are partial to yin deficiency and deficiency, and long-term cough is especially suitable, and it is also recommended for people who smoke for a long time to eat health. This soup can be vegetarian or cooked with lean meat.

2. External treatment of traditional Chinese medicine

(1) Traditional Chinese medicine foot bath therapy (suitable for the prevention of colds or the initial stage of colds)

Foot bathing is one of the commonly used external treatments in traditional Chinese medicine, which can be used to prevent colds on weekdays and can also be used in the early stages of colds, which is beneficial to symptom relief.

Take 5 grams of mugwort leaves, 3 grams of cinnamon, 5 grams of mulberry leaves, 5 grams of chrysanthemum, 5 grams of nepeta, soak in boiling water for 15 minutes, then cool or add an appropriate amount of cold water, adjust to the appropriate water temperature (<40-45 °C). Soak your feet in the liquid over your ankles and soak for 15 minutes or until your forehead and back are slightly sweaty. 1 time a day or every other day.

Note: The hotter the water temperature, the better, please do not exceed 45°C to prevent scalding. It is not advisable to bathe your feet when you are hungry or full, and it is better to bathe your feet more than 1 hour after a meal. After foot bathing, it is recommended to drink warm water in moderation to replenish water.

Contraindications: 1. Patients with severe diseases such as tumors, myocardial infarction, hypertension and mental diseases;

2. Those with broken foot skin;

3. Those who are allergic to the liquid medicine;

4. Diabetic foot patients.

(2) Moxibustion (to prevent colds and improve physical fitness)

Moxibustion can strengthen healthy qi, enhance yang qi, and prevent external diseases, especially suitable for people who are weak and susceptible, and can also be used by the elderly and children.

Moxibustion Shenque and Zusanli can strengthen the foundation, strengthen the spleen and invigorate qi, and relieve fatigue.

1. Shenque

Positioning method: just in the umbilicus.

Moxibustion method: Hold moxa sticks 8-10 cm above the acupuncture points, gently moxibustion for 15-20 minutes, and sweat slightly.

2. Ashisanri

Positioning method: Zusanli is on the front and outside of the calf, 3 inches below the calf nose (outer knee eye), a horizontal finger on the outside of the tibia, and the calf nose is connected to Jiexi.

Moxibustion method: Hold moxa sticks 8-10 cm away from the acupuncture points, moxibustion gently for 15-20 minutes, and sweat slightly.

(3) Traditional Chinese medicine hot compress method (wind cold and cold)

The traditional Chinese medicine hot compress method can warm the meridians and dissipate the cold, effectively alleviate the symptoms of wind cold, nasal congestion and runny nose, and can apply hot compresses to multiple acupuncture points at one time, making the body feel comfortable.

Stir-fry 30 grams of Evodia, 30 grams of cumin, 30 grams of sulforaphane seeds, and 500 grams of sea salt in a hot cloth bag, and apply a hot compress to the acupuncture points of the large vertebrae, wind gate, and lung Yu for 15-20 minutes each time, 1-2 times a day.

1. Great vertebrae

Positioning: 7th cervical vertebra subspinous depression.

Acupuncture point: Take the prone position or sitting position, bow your head, you can see that there is a high protrusion of the vertebrae at the junction of the neck and back, that is, the 7th cervical vertebrae, and the depression under the spinous process is this acupoint.

2. Damper

Positioning: 1.5 inches below the spinous process of the 2nd thoracic vertebra.

Acupuncture: After determining the location of the large vertebral acupoint, push down 2 vertebrae (i.e., the 2nd thoracic vertebrae), open 2 horizontal fingers from the lower edge of the spinous process, and press the place with a feeling of soreness and swelling is this acupoint.

3. Lung Yu

Positioning: 1.5 inches below the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra.

Acupuncture: After determining the location of the large vertebral acupoint, push down 3 vertebrae (i.e., the 3rd thoracic vertebrae), open 2 transverse fingers from the lower edge of the spinous process, and press the place with a feeling of soreness and swelling to this acupoint.

Note: This method is not used for wind-heat colds.

(4) Gua sha therapy (wind, heat and cold)

Gua sha therapy is guided by the theory of the twelve skins of the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine, scraping the corresponding parts, which can relieve the effect of the pyrolysis table, and is suitable for the relief of symptoms such as cold, fever, and sore throat.

Scraping site: Fengchi acupoint at the back of the neck, Fengfu acupoint to the large vertebral acupoint, and scraping the back along the Du Mai, Hua Tuo spine acupoint, and bladder meridian in turn.

Scraping method: Apply an appropriate amount of gua sha oil or activating oil to the gua sha area first. Hold the scraper in hand and scrape in a top-to-bottom direction. Scraper is kept at 45-60° from the skin for scraping. Focus on scraping the sore and shading areas. 10-15 minutes each time. Drink warm water in moderation after gua sha, avoid cold in the gua sha area, and take a bath only after 4 hours of gua sha.

3. Lifestyle care

(1) Ensure adequate sleep, be quiet and peaceful before going to bed, and do less things unrelated to sleep after going to bed.

(2) In autumn and winter, the weather is dry, eat less greasy, fried, barbecue, and spicy food, eat lightly, and appropriately increase water intake.

(3) Develop the habit of defecating regularly every day, and try to ensure that the stool can be naturally resolved every day.

(4) Maintain appropriate daily activities. Young people can skip rope, high leg jumps on the spot, dumbbell exercises, etc.; people with reduced mobility should also move their hands and feet appropriately; the elderly can do deep breathing, Tai Chi, Baduan Jin, Yijin Jing and other health exercises in the living room, and it is better to have a slight feeling of warmth or slight sweating on the body.

(5) Maintain a comfortable mood. Autumn and winter are suitable for outdoor travel, climbing high and looking far, broadening the mind, or gathering with family and friends to talk, sing, listen to music, etc., to prevent the low mood of sad autumn and maintain a comfortable mood.
