A review of the research on permeable asphalt pavement

In this paper, the functional characteristics of permeable asphalt pavement are summarized, including alleviating urban waterlogging, replenishing groundwater resources, reducing driving noise, alleviating urban heat island effect, and improving driving safety. At the same time, the development process and technical standards of permeable pavement are also introduced, and suggestions for further research on the existing problems are put forward. When the porosity ≥ 17%, the permeability coefficient increases significantly with the increase of porosity. At the same time, the study of mesoscopic void characteristics is also helpful to understand the purification mechanism of heavy metal pollutants in surface runoff from permeable asphalt pavement.
