Note: This tutorial is an English translation tutorial, and the software is not skilled in operation, so try it carefully. If there are any deficiencies in the translation or typos, make up for it yourself.

1. Create a new document

Ctrl-N to create a new document.

2. Create a background and save the pattern brush

Step 1

Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and focus on the toolbar. Remove the color from the Stroke, then select Fill and set its color to R = 43 G = 59 B = 84.

Move over to the artboard and simply create an 860px square. Make sure it covers the entire artboard, then move to the Layers panel (Window > Layers). Expand an existing layer and simply lock the shape to make sure you don't accidentally select/move it.

Step 2

Return to the toolbar and replace the existing fill color with white. Make sure the Rectangle Tool (M) is still active and create a 15 x 10 px shape. Focus on the bottom of this new rectangle and switch to the Direct Selection tool (A). Select the two anchor points and drag them 10 px to the right.

Make sure the white shape remains selected, and then go to Effects>Stylize, > Rounded Corners. Enter a 5 px radius and click OK. Open the Brushes panel (Window > Brushes), and then click New Brush. Select the Pattern Brush box, and then click OK to open the Pattern Brush Options window. Enter all the properties shown in the following image, and then click the OK button to create your own pattern brush.

3. Create three concentric circles

Step 1

Select the Ellipse Tool (L) and create a 320 px circle. Make sure it remains selected, and then focus on the appearance panel. Make sure you don't set a color for Fill, then select Stroke and apply a pattern brush from the Brushes panel.

Next, you need to determine the center of the circle. Open the Align panel (Window > Align), and then select Snap to Artboard. If you don't have permission to use the Align to menu, open the pop-up menu from the Align panel and go to Show Options. Now, make sure your circle is still selected, and then just click on the "Align Center Horizontally" and "Align Center Vertically" buttons. This will immediately move your circle to the center of the artboard.

Step 2

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a 300 pixel circle and center it. Select the new shape, and then focus on the appearance panel.

Make sure that you don't set a color for Fill, and then select Stroke. Set its color to white (R = 255 G = 255 B = 255) and click on that Stroke text to open the Stroke flyout panel. Set the Weight to 5 px, and then select the Align Strokes to Interior button.

Step 3

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a 280px circle and center it. Select the new shape, and then focus on the appearance panel.

Make sure that you don't set a color for Fill, and then select Stroke. Set its color to white (R = 255 G = 255 B = 255), increase the Weight to 30 px, and don't forget to check the Align Strokes to Interior button.

4. Add text and mask shapes

Step 1

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a 240px circle, fill it with a random color and center it. Make sure the new shape remains selected, select Type on the Path Tool, and then open the Character panel (Window> Type> Character).

Select the Rockwell Extra Bold font and set the size to 15 px and the trace to 500. Just click on the edge of the selected circle and add text. Set its color to black (R = 0 G = 0 B = 0) and switch to the Direct Selection tool (A). Drag the text with the center bracket, as shown in the second image.

Step 2

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a 260px circle, fill it with a random color and center it. Make sure the new shape remains selected, and then reselect Type on the Path Tool.

Go back to the Character panel and increase the font size to 16 px. Again, click on the edge of the selected circle and add text. Make sure the color is set to black (R = 0 G = 0 B = 0) and switch to the Direct Selection tool (A). Move the center bracket to the inside of the circle, which will also make the text on the inside. Drag the text in question, as shown in the second image.

Step 3

Select two texts and group them (Ctrl-G). Select the group, as well as the 280 px circle, open the Transparency panel (Window > Transparency), and click the Create Mask button. Uncheck the box and things will look like a third image.

Step 4

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a 210 pixel circle and center it. Select the new shape, and then focus on the appearance panel.

Make sure that you don't set a color for Fill, and then select Stroke. Set its color to white, set the Weight to 5 px, and don't forget to check the Align Strokes to Interior button.

5. Create stars

Step 1

Use the Rectangle Tool (M) to create an 80px square, make it black, and center it. Make sure this new shape remains selected, and then go to Object > Path > Add Anchor Point. Select the Direct Selection tool (A) and select the four anchor points highlighted in the first image. Switch to the Scale Tool (S) and drag the selected anchor point inward by 25 px, as shown in the second image.

Use the Rectangle Tool (M) to create a 150px square, make it white, and center it. Make sure this new shape remains selected, and then go to Object > Path > Add Anchor Point. Select the Direct Selection tool (A) and select the four anchor points highlighted in the third image. Switch to the Scale Tool (S) and drag the selected anchor point inward by 60 px, as shown in the second image.

Step 2

Select your white star and make a frontal copy (Ctrl-C> Ctrl-F). Select this copy along with your black star, open the Pathfinder panel (Window > Pathfinder) and click the Negative Fronts button. Turn the resulting shape into a compound path (Ctrl-8) and set the Fill Color to white.

Reselect the white star, and then simply press Shift-X to quickly invert the Fill and Stroke properties. Select the stroke, increase the Weight to 5 px, and don't forget to check the Align Stroke to Interior button.

Step 3

Select the Pen Tool (P) and create a simple triangle as shown in the image below. Make it white, and then go to Effects> Distort & Warp, > Warp. Make sure to check the bottom right reference point, set the Angle to 90 degrees, enter 3 in the Copy box, and click that OK button.

Step 4

Focus on the top corner of the star, and then select Rectangle Tool (M). Create a 10 pixel square, make it white, and place it in the first image.

Focus on the bottom of this tiny shape and switch to the Direct Selection tool (A). Select the two anchor points, and then go to Objects> Paths> Averages. Check both boxes, and then click OK. This will only turn your little square into a triangle.

Step 5

Make sure your little triangle remains selected, then go to Effects> Distort & Warp, > Warp. Drag the Vertical Move slider to 190 pixels, check the Reflection Y box, and enter 1 in the Copy box. Click the OK button, and then go to Effects > Distort & Distort > Deform again. Set the Angle to 90 degrees, enter 1 in the Copy box, and then click the OK button.

Step 6

Select all the shapes that make up the logo and group them (Ctrl-G).

6. Mask a set of shapes

Step 1

Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and create a 90 x 50 pixel shape. Blacken it and place it exactly as shown in the first picture. Focus on the right side of the new rectangle and select the Direct Selection tool (A). Select the top anchor point and drag it up 10 px, then select the bottom anchor point and drag it down 10 px.

Make a copy of this black shape, flip it horizontally, and place it exactly as shown in the third picture.

Step 2

Stay tuned for your two black shapes. Select the left one and go to the effect > warp > fish. Check the Horizontal box, drag the Bend slider to 5%, and then click that OK button. Select a different black shape, and then go to Effects > Distort > Fish again. Check the Horizontal box, drag the Bend slider to -5%, and then click the OK button. When you're done, reselect the two black shapes and group them (Ctrl-G).

Step 3

Select the two groups and go to the Transparency panel. Click the Make Mask button, and don't forget to uncheck the Clip box.

7. Create a ribbon

Step 1

Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and create a 90 x 50 pixel shape. Make it white and place it as shown in the first image.

Focus on the right side of this new rectangle, select Add Anchor Point Tool (+), and simply add a new anchor point, as shown in the first image. Switch to the Direct Selection tool (A), select the new anchor point, and drag it 20 px to the left.

Make a copy of this white shape, flip it horizontally, and place it as shown in Figure 3.

Step 2

Select the Type tool (T) and select the Pacifico font from the Character panel. Set the size to 20 px, set the trace to 500, and add the "19" segment of text. Blacken it and place it in the first image.

Select the new text and the white shape that follows it and group it (Ctrl-G). Make sure this new group remains selected, and then go to Effects> Warp, > Fish. Enter the properties shown in the following image, and then click the OK button.

Step 3

Continue to follow the group from the previous step. Select the text and shapes in the group, go to the Transparency panel, and then click the Make Mask button. Don't forget to uncheck the "Clip" box, things should look like a second image.

Step 4

Re-select the Type Tool (T) and add a "38" piece of text. Blacken it and place it in the first image.

Select the new text and the white shape that follows it, and group it (Ctrl-G). Make sure this new group remains selected, then go to the effect > warp > fish. Enter the properties shown in the following image, and then click the OK button.

Step 5

Continue to follow the group from the previous step. Select the text and shapes in the group, go to the Transparency panel, and then click the Make Mask button. Don't forget to uncheck the "Clip" box, things should look like a second image.

8. Add an image to the background

Step 1

Go back to the Layers panel and unlock the blue square. Select it and focus on the Appearance panel (Window> Appearance). Select the fill, reduce its opacity to 50%, and change the blending mode to color.

Step 2

Download this free image and drag it into the document. Resize, use Shift-Ctrl- to send it to the back, and then place it roughly as shown in the image below.

Step 3

Reselect your blue square, focus on the Appearance panel, and then use the Add New Fill button to add a second fill. Select this new Fill, set the color to R = 39 G = 170 B = 225, reduce its opacity to 50%, and change the Blend Mode to Soft Light. Recommend:
