After three teams, including the Phoenix Suns, traded Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers appear to remain in business. The Trail Blazers reportedly agreed to trade Joe Holloday, whom they got from the Bucks in the Lillard trade, to the Boston Celtics, a huge deal. Boston will give up Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams and two future first-round picks.
Holloday has given the Celtics a big boost to their outside defense. Earlier this year, the team traded another top defensive player, Marcus Smart, in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. Holloday could be seen as one of the stars tied alongside Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Holladay was named to the All-Defensive Team five times. Last season in Milwaukee, he averaged 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. It was the second time in his career that he had been nominated as an All-Star. All in all, the Blazers have changed Lillard Brogdon, Williams, DeAndre Ayton and Tumani Camara. The Blazers also have high hopes for Scout Henderson, the second pick.
The Celtics won the Atlantic Division two years in a row last season. They finished the game 57-25 but lost the game in the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston is on track to win a championship for the first time since 2008.
