The life of Nikolai Dmitrievich Blokhin (Russian: НиколайДмитриевичБлохин) was closely associated with the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. As soon as he graduated, he stayed on to teach as a teacher in the Department of Drawing. Blokhin's work has been exhibited in Europe, China, and especially the United States, during which he has held more than 30 solo exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Santa Fe, Carmel, and Las Vegas.

He has participated in two of the most well-known international portrait competitions: the American Portrait Painters Association (ASOPA) International Competition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2002, where Blokhin won the grand prize, and the 2004 American Portrait Painters Association (PSA) International Competition in Boston, where he also won the Gold Medal.

For Nikolai Blokhin, one of the most important exhibitions in his exhibition career was a solo exhibition at the Taos Museum of Art, the former residence of the great Russian master of fine arts Nikolai Fischen and his studio , Taos Museum (Taos, New Mexico, USA, 2008). Recently, the master has also held quite a few exhibitions in Russia, which has made his name famous in the country.
