On the afternoon of May 28th, the "Ye Mao Chinese Painting Exhibition" touring exhibition, curated by Liu Yiqian, the founder of the Long Museum and a famous collector, was grandly opened at the Long Art Museum (Chongqing Pavilion). "We specially toured this exhibition to Chongqing, hoping that the people in the southwest region will also know that he is not only a marketing master, but also an excellent painter." In the "Shigu" section that everyone first saw in the exhibition, Ye Maozhong brought people into the ancient style with a long artistic conception through many ink landscapes such as "Chaimen Snow Cover Map" and "Pine Stream Seeking Tranquility". Wan Heng said that these paintings are very rich in the pen and ink characteristics of the famous Song and Yuan masters, "through these works, it can also be seen that Mr. Ye Maozhong has a unique pursuit and yearning for the atmosphere of the Song and Yuan Dynasties," he said, taking "Chaimen Cover the Snow Map" as an example, which is similar to Xia Gui, one of the "Four Houses of the Southern Song Dynasty". "Through these works, we can also see Mr. Ye Maozhong's methods and attitudes of learning from the ancients." In the "Western Paintings" created by Ye Maozhong, such as "Broken Bridge", although western techniques such as oil painting sticks are used, "we look carefully, from the details of the branches to the artistic conception, they are actually very oriental." Wan Heng said, "The state of water is also very rich in his pen: there are more tranquil, there are cloudy days, or the sun is shining. It is a reproduction of the artist's heart. ”
Sketching is also the focus of this exhibition. According to reports, the sketches exhibited on the spot were all completed by Ye Maozhong during his trip to the southwest in 2020. "Because the weather was changeable at that time, many works had to be completed in a limited time, so we can see that the use of pen and ink can be described as full of vitality and enjoyment."
It is worth mentioning that Ye Maozhong is also a collector, and his collection is mainly based on Modern and Contemporary Chinese masters such as Fu Baoshi, Xu Beihong, Huang Binhong, Wu Guanzhong, and Zao Wou-ki. In the experience of painting from primary school, Ye Maozhong's two teachers, Wu Junsheng and Tai Qiyou, were also students of Fu Baoshi. In addition, he also collected a lot of Fu Baoshi's works, so Ye Maozhong liked to use bouldering in the creation of landscape paintings. Such details can also be seen in the works exhibited in this exhibition.
