The author of Game of Thrones sued ChatGPT

Some of the world's best-known novelists banded together this week to sue ChatGPT maker OpenAI, saying it uses their work to train its AI tools and works with a growing number of artists, musicians and writers to try to stop tech companies from benefiting from their work. Work without being paid.

George S. R· Big names writers such as R. Martin, Judy Picot, Jonathan Franzen and George Sanders all signed the lawsuit, which was led by the Writers Guild, which lobbied on behalf of the writers.

Copyright lawsuits against OpenAI and other AI companies are growing, including one filed by comedian Sarah Swarman and another by novelists Mona Awad and Paul Tremblay.

The latest lawsuit accuses OpenAI of copying authors' work "without permission or consideration" and using it to train their "large language models" — giant algorithms that power tools like ChatGPT.

"At the heart of these algorithms is massive systematic theft," the lawsuit said. In the lawsuit, the authors seek damages for "lost access to licenses to their work" and an injunction against OpenAI that prohibits it from continuing to use their work in its training data.

A spokesman for OpenAI declined to comment on the pending lawsuit. #chat GPT##冰与火之歌#
