Both girls are Chairman Mao's biological daughters, but Chairman Mao Zedong's third daughter may not be well known, her name is Li Jing. She has a special origin, and is the descendant of wartime martyrs.

A home broken in war
Li Jing was born in a family full of bookish atmosphere, her parents loved reading very much, and they were relatively literate people in the society at that time.
Influenced by new ideas, they participated in the revolution early on, and became military doctors in the army during the Sino-Japanese War.
In 1935, the two who fell in love gave birth to Li Jing, when their lives were still full of hope. Out of strong faith in the country, they named their daughter Li Shengli.
Li Shengli's childhood was spent in the smoke of gunfire, but fortunately, her parents grew up with her. But an accident when she was eight years old shattered the family's happiness.
In 1943, Li Jing's mother was asked by her superiors to go inside the enemy army to do ideological work on some high-ranking personnel, and if she could rebel against them, the Communist Party's work would go more smoothly.
Everything went well, but after a sleeper communist was captured, he defected and confessed Wang Yintong's name. Her mother was brutally killed, and eight-year-old Li Jing hated Japanese devils ever since.
She didn't beat herself up, she vowed to be as great as her mother. After returning to the army, she became a literary soldier at a young age. Although she is only a teenager, she is mature everywhere, which makes people can't help but praise and feel distressed.
Even in the subsequent War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, she took the initiative to ask Ying to support, and fought bravely on the battlefield, and was rewarded for her meritorious service.
Because of her excellent performance on the battlefield, her superiors specially sent someone to visit this little girl. Taking into account her family situation, the central leadership also prepared a living allowance for her. Li Jing saw such a sudden arrival of glory, she was not proud, but only left part of the daily necessities she needed, and the rest refused.
Chairman Mao recognized his goddaughter
During this visit by the central leadership, Chairman Mao was even present. Looking at the skinny girl in front of her, Chairman Mao asked her about her life experience. She spoke of her suffering, and the death of her mother at the age of eight seemed like a nightmare, and it was still a knot in her heart for so long.
Chairman Mao burst into tears when he heard these words, and he said to Li Jing: "Your mother was a martyr, and she died for the country. My wife Yang Kaihui, like her, also sacrificed her life for the country. Your name Li Shengli is very similar to my previous name in Yan'an, Li Shengli and Li Desheng are both expecting China to win. And you have the same surname as my two daughters Li, we have such a fate, from today onwards, you are my own daughter. ”
Li Jing was surprised and delighted to hear Chairman Mao's words, and she felt that it was already a high honor that she could be personally received by the chairman, and now the chairman suddenly proposed to recognize herself as a goddaughter, which made Li Jing not know how to answer for a while. Li Jing is a very filial child, although she does not live with her father, but she will send back some living expenses to her father every once in a while. Chairman Mao respected Li Jing's parents very much, he usually wrote his own articles, and the manuscript fees he got often sent to Li Jing's parents. At the beginning, Li Jing's income was about 60 yuan a month, and she had to send back 20 yuan to her father. But Chairman Mao sent one or two hundred to Li Jing's family at one time, in order to help this poor family. Li Jing also thanked Chairman Mao for this, and lived and studied very hard.
A leader in cultural dissemination
In contact with Chairman Mao, Li Jing fell in love with Chairman Mao's calligraphy. Chairman Mao often composed his own poems and recorded them in his own distinctive calligraphy.
Li Jing practiced one stroke by one according to Chairman Mao's writing posture, and slowly her font became more and more similar to Mao Zedong.
And writing calligraphy has also become a great pleasure for Li Jing, no matter how busy she is at work, she will take some time to practice calligraphy. From calligraphy, Li Jing also gradually understood some of Chairman Mao's thoughts. She actively recommended and explained to others and spread Chairman Mao's ideas to the public.
Li Jing is like a natural literary artist, her literary knowledge is deep, and her writing skills are very strong. And she has her own opinions on all kinds of calligraphy, especially Mao's calligraphy, and she has practiced the essence. On the recommendation of many people, she became the head of the cultural department of the Political Department. This is the first female leader in this position in so many years.
Not only that, but she worked for eight years. She devoted her life to the work of the Chinese Communist Party. Even without the war, she still worked hard and made great contributions to the dissemination of Chinese culture and socialist ideas. Until she had to leave her post due to physical reasons, she never complained about her work.
After Mao's death, Li Jing continued to practice Mao's calligraphy and held a calligraphy exhibition in honor of Chairman Mao. At this exhibition, Li Jing brought out more than 2,000 calligraphy works she had written over the years, most of which were derived from Chairman Mao's poems.
Li Jing's calligraphy is almost the same as that carved out of a mold by Chairman Mao, and visitors say that it is too similar.
Li Jing's understanding of calligraphy is very different from ordinary people. Each era has the characteristics of writing in each era, and Li Jing clearly imitated the different writing feelings of Chairman Mao in each period.
During the Cultural Revolution, Li Jing was actually punished for this matter. At that time, after Jiang Qing knew about Chairman Mao's goddaughter, she suddenly led someone to capture Li Jing for some reason. He told Li Jing that her mother was not a martyr, and even found acquaintances in prison to physically and mentally destroy Li Jing.
When Chairman Mao discovered this, Li Jing spent one hard day after another in prison. Until Chairman Mao suddenly knew about this one day and hurriedly sent someone to release Li Jing. Li Jing, who had suffered a lot, finally lived a simple life again.
But just when Li Jing was about to enjoy her old age, a sudden illness made her unbearable. The appearance of cancer at the time amounted to a death sentence. It was 2003, when Li Jing was already thin and weak, and even if she actively cooperated with the doctor's treatment, her health could not come back.
In 2004, Li Jing ended her ordinary but extraordinary life amid illness. From participating in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea at 15 to holding art exhibitions in her sixties, Li Jing is always moving forward.
