Manchester City are pressuring Bernardo Silva to sign a new contract with the club and end transfer rumours surrounding the Portuguese star.

Silva helped the club to a historic treble last season and there are rumours this summer that he will leave Manchester City.

However, City are keen for the 28-year-old to extend his stay in Manchester and offer Silva a two-year deal on top of the two years left on his current contract.

The new contract will increase his salary to £300,000 a week and, according to the Mirror, Manchester City are pressuring the midfielder to give answers in order to put an end to rumours about his future.

Barcelona remain long-time admirers of Silva, with Laporta recently saying he wants to sign the Portuguese star. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to Manchester City to offer the player a swap deal.

Saudi Arabia has also taken an interest in Silva, and Al Hilal is ready to pay Silva a contract of £500,000 a week to take him to the Middle East.

However, no club can meet the £70 million asking price that Pep Guardiola has offered the popular player.

If Silva does decide to leave the Premier League titles, the club are keen to have a replacement ready and have been linked with the transfer of Inter Milan midfielder Nicolò Barrera.

Silva has returned to pre-season with his team-mates and the Portugal international has had no problems and Guardiola is pleased with his attitude since his return.

Guardiola's side have only brought in Matteo Kovacic from Chelsea for £25 million so far this summer, although they remain confident of bringing in RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardior before the transfer window closes.

Captain Ilkay Gundogan has left the club for Barcelona and Riyad Mahrez is set to move to Ahly after Manchester City accepted a £30 million offer for the winger.

With Mahrez on the horizon to retire, City could replace the Algerian with Barcelona striker Rafinha.

Barca do not want the Brazilian to leave Camp Nou, but given the club's fragile finances, any offer from Manchester City could open the door for Rafinha to return to the Premier League.

On other fronts, the future of Kyle Walker and Emerick Laporte remains uncertain, while Joao Cancelo still seems to have no turning back after falling out of favour last season Pep Guardiola.
