An investigation report recently released by the United States Geological Survey shows that nearly half of the synthetic organic fluoride content in tap water in the United States exceeds the standard.
The report mentions that the U.S. Geological Survey collected samples from 716 sites, 45 percent of which contained excessive levels of synthetic organofluoride, and pollution is more serious in cities than in rural areas.
The agency said there are currently more than 12,000 classes of synthetic organofluorides, many of which cannot be detected by existing means, so the actual problem may be more serious than the report indicates.
Synthetic organic fluoride accumulates in the human body and the environment and cannot be broken down, known as "permanent chemicals", and above certain exposure levels can negatively affect health and the environment, which can lead to developmental problems in children, cancer, liver and kidney diseases.
Synthetic organic fluoride is widely used in the manufacture of products with antifouling, waterproof, oilproof and other characteristics, including fire extinguishing agents, non-stick pans, cleaning sprays, etc.
