Hello everyone, it is an honor to participate in the opening forum of this year's Shanghai Trade Fair and discuss with you how artificial intelligence will lead technological innovation and promote the high-quality development of enterprises. The theme of this year's forum, "Open Chain Global, Technology Empowering the Future", is very much in line with IBM's global positioning and technical heritage.

Today, IBM is a technology company focused on hybrid cloud and AI, and an important enabler of AI technologies and AI applications worldwide. From the perspective of the history of AI, the 1956 Dartmouth conference is generally regarded as the starting point of the discipline of artificial intelligence, and IBM was also an important participant in this conference. 1997 can be said to be a milestone moment for artificial intelligence to enter the public eye. In that year, IBM Deep Blue defeated the chess champion. In 2011, IBM AI participated in a knowledge competition and won the championship, which means that IBM's speech recognition and semantic understanding capabilities have reached a high level 12 years ago. In 2019, IBM's AI debater has begun to compete with humans, and its language expression ability has attracted the attention of the world.

Just last month, IBM released watsonx, a next-generation enterprise-grade AI and data platform, taking enterprise-level AI applications to a new level. We'll expand a little bit later.

Different people have different understandings of artificial intelligence. IBM believes that artificial intelligence is an enhancement and expansion of human capabilities, which requires four basic capabilities, namely understanding, reasoning, learning, and interaction.

With the advent of ChatGPT, the attention of the general public has once again been attracted to AI, allowing humans to see the powerful capabilities of AI. Although there is still some controversy over ChatGPT, it is undoubtedly a milestone in the history of AI development, proving that the big language model is a path that makes sense and leads to future AI. Because it fully possesses the four capabilities of artificial intelligence mentioned earlier: understanding, reasoning, learning, and interaction.

This also means that the development of AI has accumulated quantitative changes in algorithms, computing power, and data for decades, and the "moment of qualitative change" is accelerating.

From the enterprise side, in just five years from 2017 to 2022, the AI adoption rate increased by nearly 2.5 times. Looking ahead, the leap forward of artificial intelligence in the next few years is a foregone conclusion. We expect that by 2030, all-round, multi-modal artificial intelligence will be further popularized, and human production and life will enter a new era of human-machine collaboration.

IBM believes that there are five main scenarios for AI in enterprise landing: first, the use of AI and automation tools to optimize the decision-making process of employees and liberate productivity; Second, automate IT business processes; Third, create more sustainable operations; Fourth, improve the visibility and response speed of cybersecurity threats; Fifth, reduce IT O&M costs and ensure business continuity through application modernization.

We mentioned IBM's newly released enterprise AI and data platform, watsonx, which consists of three product sets that solve the three major challenges of AI applications: finding the data you need, building the right models, and overseeing the operation of the system.

watsonx.data, which helps companies find the data they need to develop AI models. Whether your data is on-premises or multicloud, one or more data types, it's easy to access and share from a single point of entry.

watsonx.ai, it helps enterprises train, validate, tune and deploy AI models with the identified data. The system can provide customers with IBM-developed models, including a large collection of basic models for specific industries; Customers can open source or other companies' models, as well as their own models; The system can also provide pre-trained base models based on different task needs, including traditional machine learning and the latest generative AI capabilities.

watsonx.governance can ensure the security of enterprise data and information throughout the entire lifecycle of AI development, and provide enterprise-level AI governance and governance solutions to make the entire process legal, transparent, and accountable. Implement governance and governance of the system.

It is worth mentioning that IBM will also open source some of Watsonx's models and datasets to create with the community and enterprises. If ChatGPT allows people to see the powerful capabilities of AI, IBM watsonx brings all kinds of powerful AI capabilities into the enterprise, making AI the core productivity of the enterprise.

Let me give you a specific customer case, an automotive company is a global auto parts supplier with 9 R&D bases and more than 240 factories in more than 20 countries around the world, and in the face of the huge number of orders received every day, the high cost, inefficiency and multiple errors caused by manual processing greatly affect the overall operational efficiency. The AI decision-making brain built by IBM helped the car company learn the rules behind internal orders corresponding to external orders from 180 million historical data, realize a fully automated execution process, and improve the order classification accuracy rate from 85% to 97%.

In summary, artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into the whole process of economic and social development, and has become an important driving force for promoting scientific and technological development and industrial optimization and upgrading. China's artificial intelligence has developed rapidly and has formed a complete industrial system.

The new round of industrial waves brought by artificial intelligence provides new opportunities for enterprises to use scientific and technological innovation to achieve high-quality development. To this end, we put forward the following suggestions for reference: first, build AI capabilities and ecosystems around key industries, such as promoting the transformation of automotive companies into AI-based technology companies; Second, establish a computing power network that supports the training, development and application of AI basic models; Third, pay attention to AI education, on the one hand, accelerate the cultivation of new talents needed by various industries in the AI era, and on the other hand, use AI to assist in transforming the teaching system and improving teaching efficiency.

Artificial intelligence is one of the three leading industries that Shanghai focuses on. At present, Shanghai has released a series of relevant institutional support and policy innovations. We hope to co-create with Shanghai in an all-round way, contribute global industry knowledge and technical capabilities, link the broadest partner ecosystem, and apply AI to the core business of enterprises to enhance competitiveness and help enterprises achieve high-quality development.
