According to the Literary Hub, Mark Twain's bright yellow mansion in Reading, Connecticut, will be sold for $4.2 million in the near future. The residence, also known as Stormfield Mansion, was the birthplace of Mark Twain, where he lived until 1920, when he died.

Mark Twain, formerly known as Samuel Langhorne Clemens, was an American humorist, novelist, writer, and famous speaker. His home, Stormfield Mansion, is named after his short story Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven. The novel tells the story of Captain Elias Stormfield's decades-long journey through the universe, the captain racing against comets, obsessed with Adam, Moses and Elijah, mark Twain uses this story to show that everyone's perception of heaven is actually quite ridiculous.

Built in the style of a Tuscan villa by Mark Twain, the residential Stormfield Mansion is 6,300 square feet and covers over 28 acres. The residence consists of five rooms, a carriage house and a guest cabin. Although Mark Twain was not involved in the design, he praised the residence in a letter to Dorothy Quake—

"Miss Lyon and the architect built and furnished the house without any help or advice from me and I was particularly satisfied with the results. It's quiet and charming, surrounded by dense woods, rolling hills, and rolling countryside. In an interview with The New York Times, Mark Twain also called it "the most perfect home in the world, the most peaceful and tranquil, satisfying place I've ever lived in my life."
